Hi I'm Gabby

I am the mother of a child with special needs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of two beautiful children, our oldest daughter has many special needs she was born with a terminal brain condition called Holoprosencephaly and our youngest son just turned a year old. My children teach me every single day how to be more patient and forgiving. My husband is a full-time student pursuing a career in medicine. I love spending time with our children, serving in our church and working with a non-profit organization that promotes awareness of Holoprosencephaly.

Why I am a Mormon

I was 31yrs old living the standard life of any young woman today, my work and my friends were the most important things in my life. I had a very active social life, and many friends, but I was lonely. I felt that something was missing, I wanted to know more about my purpose, about what makes people really happy, what would happen after this life, and so to my religion. I was Catholic and I attended church, church functions etc. I was hoping that I could find fulfillment. I fruitlessly searched for answers. At the time I was working at a law firm with quite a few Mormons, I always noticed the light in there eyes and there extensive knowledge of the bible, which was surprising to me! So when I was invited to church, because I was curious, I accepted. What can I say about that experience, is that it felt like I had arrived home. All my years of searching for truth and for answers that would satisfy my soul, was right there in that chapel. That day I knew that God lived, I knew that He answered prayers. In my heart I knew that I found the true Church of Jesus Christ. A year after my baptism I met and married my husband and we were sealed for time and all eternity in the temple. After years of dating long term, it took only 6 months for me to know that I made the right decision to get married. A year after our daughter was born. She was diagnosed with Alobar Holoprosencephaly, a terminal brain condition and given very little hope, of those children that survive birth only 2 make it to there 1st birthday. She is now going to be 3 years old. Our daughter's terminal condition put my faith into action, she is an angel from our Father in Heaven. Although her physical body is not perfect her spirit is. I am a Mormon because I have no doubt that Jesus Christ lives, that he died for us and that this is His Church, He has a perfect plan for families so that they can be together forever! I know because of this plan I will see my daughter perfect someday!

How I live my faith

I help organize activities for the women in my church that help enrich their lives, strength their families and help promote womanhood. Through my daughter's condition I am able to share the gospel with others. I am able to share our loving Father in Heaven's plan for families. We attend church every Sunday and participate in all meetings, my extended family are not Latter-day Saints and I feel its very important to live our faith through actions. We hold a family home evening on a weekly basis and although our children are very young we try to have a family morning prayer and evening prayer with them.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Church is where we meet on Sundays to receive sacrament and to meet for Sunday school. The temple is where worthy members of the church enter to preform proxy baptisms, marriages and other saving ordinances. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

We have three hours of church related activities. Usually, but not always, our first hour we bless and administer sacramental supper, this is probably the most important hour. We then have an hour of Sunday school and we have different classes to choose from, and finally we have an hour in which the men and women meet separately. Visitors are always allowed at Church meetings and functions. Church members are always welcoming to visitors. To locate a chapel near you, you can go to maps.lds.org Show more Show less

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Temples provide an opportunity for husband and wives to be sealed together for time and all eternity, children born under this union are also sealed for time and all eternity to their families where we can live together in heaven. I believe and I know that families can live together in heaven, if we work in this life to follow the example of Jesus Christ and keep His commandments we can realize this promise!
