I LOVE talking to people just about anything and just making people feel comfortable. I love hearing people's stories and backgrounds. I just love helping people and I just like being a friend! I played trombone in highschool. I do my best everyday to be happy and enjoy life even when it life gets tough. I try to take care of my friends and family so that everyone feels loved and appreciated. I can't wait to have a family of my own and enjoy the great blessing that it is. I love smiling and laughing. I try not to go any amount of time without either of those things in my life. I speak spanish and love the hispanic culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a disciple of Chirst. I have found through my own personal study, prayer, and investigation that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Church that Jesus Christ established when he was on the Earth. I was confused in my high school years of denominations, personal beliefs, and just God's existence in general. I visited many churches with friends and always enjoyed the topic of religion but I wasn't feeling anything special. I remember being very angry one night and looking up to sky and was arguing with a being that I really didn't understand. I cried for help and guidance and because of no immediate response, I decided there was no God. I fell into a very dark part of my life and felt a very shadowy presence around me. I wasn't happy living. I seemed happy to others but there were deep questions and pains that ate at my heart. Many friends and loved ones helped me to forget about that whole and move forward. But a dear friend of mine, who is a Mormon, invited me over to her home and I felt a warm, calm presence. My Father had become a Mormon and changed his life massively. These to experiences sent me on a journey for inner peace. Through this website and investigation, I came to know for myself that God exist, that he loves us and this is his church. I know the Book of mormon is true and that Christ restored his church to the Earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. This invitaion is extended to all to seek and I promise you will find.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures because they bring my mine a lot of peace and tranquility, listen to uplifting music, I try to have a positive attitude, I stay healthy and try to be in shape (But I do love candy and sweets so I am not always successful =p), and do the things that my Heavenly Father needs me to do! I try to live as clean as a life as possible. I love smiling and trying to be the best example I can be. I just try to be happy and positive. If there is one thing that I try to do more than anything else, it is smile. =) When life gets hard and you don't see the end, just smile and keep moving. People are always watching and someone always needs someone to smile at them and tell them it's going to be okay. I love comforting people and sharing experiences with others. I try to be a friend to every person I meet. It is always my goal to go out of my way to help others. I try to not let anyone see me without a smile on my face. I work on developing Christlike attributes so that I may be as He is. He loved all and did everything for us and never asked for anything in return. I know that praying daily makes a difference in my life and others. I know that miracles happen daily and prayers are answered daily because of a loving Heavenly Father that loves to communicate with us. I believe in the little things because they are the moments that matter most and I try to count all the great little things that happen everyday.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

We baptize new members so that may enter the church washed from their sins of the past and come unto Christ with a clean slate. You are also given the baptism of fire by the laying on of hands and receiving the Holy Ghost as your constant companion. It as if your life has just started and you are once again free of your past and able to move towards the ultimate goal of eternal life. We also promise to God to live His commandments and follow him always. Baptism, with the proper priesthood Authority, is the gate way, the door, to eternal life and is the start of our lives dedicated to serving the Lord. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

You should live the commandments and experience the blessing that come from them, read the scriptures to gain guidance and peace in your daily life, start to attend church meetings, invite the missionaries over to learn more, and most importantly pray humbly and with a sincere heart to gain a relationship with your Heavenly Father who loves you so much and ask for His guidance and help in all things. I remember my first prayer and just feeling almost a warm hug as I prayed. After thinking I had been alone for years, I knew that someone was watching out for me, understands me, and loves me. I know that I am never alone. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power and authority to act in God's name. All of the prophets and apostles of old held it. It is how perform the ordinances that our Heavenly Father wants us to complete here such as baptism, blessings, ordaining, and temple covenants as well. Without the priesthood, we can not perform anything that the Savior has done. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Your driving down the road and your speeding. An ice cream man turns his music on and has a light on his van. He pulls you over and rights you a speeding ticket. Are you going to pay for that ticket? No! you would never pay a ticket given to you by an ice cream man! That is why in society there are people that have the authority to perform certain actions. That is why the priesthood, the authority to act in the name of Christ, was restored to the Earth. We need the authority of God to act in his name or it will not mean anything. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

I get this one a lot, and believe the true reason is because God asked us to. He could have come up with anything. He could of asked us not to eat carrots! But we do not partake of these things because he asked us to and it is out of obedience that we do these things. He has also promised us great physical and spiritual blessings by living this commandment. God knows everything and only He can be a proper judge of what we should do. Another way I've looked at it is that we do not like to be addicted to anything, such as television, video games, drugs, people, things of the world, etc. You can eat whatever you would like, but our church leaders and our Heavenly Father have asked us to watch our bellies. We should always try to exercise everyday and try to be as healthy as we possibly can. Show more Show less

Of course not! Anyone reading this may ask me for help and I would gladly help to the best of my ability. By serving others, we are serving the Lord. Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Yes, Jesus Christ came to North America after his resurrection and talked with the ancient people of America. He gave them many commandments to follow, gave them the authority to baptize, taught them his Gospel and the sacrament, healed their sick, and blessed their children. The Book of Mormon tells of this story. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by prophets and many other righteous men in Ancient America. Because God loves all his children, He would not leave some of them without His love and His gospel. Because the people in the Americas were not present in Jerusalem for all the prophets, miracles, The Bible, and even Jesus Christ, God called righteous men and prophets in America as well! Joseph Smith did not write the Book of Mormon. He translated it from the language it was written in before. Thos who read the Book of Mormon can find out for themselves if it is true! Don't take my word for it, find out and prove me right! What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We do not believe in the practice of homosexuality, but this does not mean we do not like homosexual people. As I've heard many times-"condemn the sin, not the sinner". We do not hate anyone, we only practice our own belief. Same-sex marriage is important to this church be cause we practice our own marriages in our temples. The reason there is so much resentment between this church and same-sex marriage is because if it was allowed, we would have to allow homosexual marriages in our temples. We will not allow this because we believe that the covenants of marriage are strictly between a man and women. I believe there is a reason why we were made the way we are, that is why gay couples can not reproduce. Coming from a very strong liberal background, it was a hard thing to accept for me. But I believe we should love everyone and i agree that two people of the same sex may care about each other. But it is not the love that our Heavenly Father established and the only way to be sealed to your partner in heaven is through the temple as a heterosexual couple. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

We believe in the primitive church that Christ established on the Earth. As in the New Testament, Christ was the head of the church with 12 Apostles to assist him in his work. After his death, Peter was called t lead the 11 Apostles and called another to fill his spot, Matthias. Pal was also called as an apostle afterwards as well. In the bible, it even speaks about the foundation of Chirst's church is built upon apostles and prophets. We have that same organization today just as Christ established. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The word "Restore" means "Bring back; reinstate.Return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position." When we "reform" something, it means "Make changes in order to improve it." Like when someone restores a car, they fix it up and make it look as it did before. Christ established a church. After his death, the Apostles were rejected and killed and His Authority to heal, help, and perform ordinances(like Baptism) was removed from the Earth. People started to change his church and tried to put his Church back together but could not because important truths were lost and we had no one on the Earth to receive guidance from Heavenly Father. Say that Christ's church was a beautiful old Cadillac and over the years it was worn down, parts were taken off of it, and it was missing essential parts to run the way it did before. Now we could probably change it, or reform, and get it going again. But it would never run the same way as the original or ever be the original unless those exact parts and pieces were brought back. Now I do not know about you, but I want the car that Christ first had, the original, the first edition. And that is the importance of Joseph Smith. God called another Prophet, just as he always has, and gave him the authority to act in his name. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the original church, the "first edition", was restored and now we have the exact same church that Christ established in His day. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Paint this picture in your mind. After thousands of years of spiritual darkness, no guidance from prophets and many trying to establish churches that reinstated the same principles that Jesus Christ taught, A young, 14 year old boy had a simple question:"Out of all the churches, which is the church that Christ himself established? Why do they all teach the same doctrine differently. Christ only had one Church and it was his. What am I to do?" This young boy studied at all the different churches and studied the bible with much diligence. He came across a scripture that says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”. And he did exactly that. This young boy went to a grove of trees, knelt down, and prayed to his Father in Heaven. As he pour out the desires of his heart, a marvelous event happened. In his word's, this is what happened, "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon I saw two personages, whose glory and brightness defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other-This is My Beloved Son, Hear Him!" God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, appeared to a boy, Joseph Smith and began to bring back the church which was established before. How sweet the story of a young boy. What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

I gain a more open outlook on life and my eyes are truly opened. I feel like my purpose of life becomes clearer and I focus on what is most important. I am usually negative and in a not so good mood when I do not read the scriptures. We gain so much strength when we read the words of the prophets, the spirit is invited into our lives, and we can receive personal revelation and answers to our many questions in this life. Jesus Christ invites you to “feast” upon His words (The Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 32:3). This means more than casually reading the scriptures. It means to study them, ponder them, compare verses, learn passages by heart, treasure them, and delight in them. We grow closer to our Heavenly Father and Savior when we learn and grow in our gospel knowledge. This life is hard and we can walk blind through it if we want, but God has given us a way to receive guidance and make this path a little bit easier to follow! So read and enjoy! Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Nothing secret about it! We only need to be worthy and clean to enter. In the temple, we learn about the plan that God has for us and the eternal truths behind it. We receive ordinances that seal families together for eternity and provide ordinances like Baptism to those who have passed on that did not have the opportunity to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a sacred and Holy place and so it must be treated that way. Just like when something is really important and personal to us, we don't just flaunt it around. That would take the importance of it away. Same with the temple, only when we are ready to make the covenants or promises of God that are only available in Temple. Show more Show less
