Hi I'm JAY

I grew up in Utah. I am a Structured Finance Consultant I enjoy helping people and creating jobs.

About Me

I am 49 years old I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 32+ years. I have four children and 9 grand children. We are active members of THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS. I live in Utah where I am in the Structured Finance and project funding business. I serve currently in my ward with 8 year old boys in the cub scouting program. I love my calling and am so grateful for the opportunity to serve with the youth. My wife also serves with the young women 14 to 16 that is because she is simply amazing and it shows in everything she does. We love to spend time with our grandchildren. We believe it is never to soon to start planning your next vacation we love to go where it’s warm especially when it’s cold in Utah. We plan on spending much of our golden years serving missions in the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a personal testimony that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith Jr. is the Prophet of the restoration and that Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet today. I have had the Holy Spirit bear witness of these things to my soul. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. saw God the father and his son Jesus Christ and that he translated the Book of Mormon. This gospel allows me to have a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am able to make sacred covenants that strengthen that relationship and the relationship that I have with my family and friends. My entire life evolves around the gospel of Jesus Christ it penetrates every action and relationship. Through the "Gift of The Holy Ghost" I am able to be comforted, prompted and have discernment as long as I stay worthy to keep the gift. If for some reason I falter or fall there is always the atonement that the Lord Jesus Christ has provided to help me get back on track. The gospel allows me to be sealed to my family for time and all eternity. It teaches me that I am a child of God and that I can become like him through his gospel. I could write many pages of what the gospel of Jesus Christ does for me but I think this gives you an idea.

How I live my faith

The most important way that I live my faith is within the walls of my own home. How I treat those close to me. I am always learning how to improve. I also serve in other ways, I am a home teacher this means I have families that are my responsibility to watch over both spiritually and temporally. I have a companion another man from the church and we are assigned to visit each of our families at least 1 time per month to give them a spiritual message and to check on their general welfare. Every worthy active priesthood holder in the church is assigned to home teach.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

JAY
Baptism is a covenant that is made to take on the name of Christ and to remember him, in return we are promised to always have his spirit to be with us. Because we don't reach the ability to be perfect here on earth each week we are given the opportunity to take the sacrament which renews our covenants of baptism and also washes away our sins just as at baptism if we are repentant and have a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Of course there are some sins that are beyond our capability to repent of without assistance from our spiritual leaders in these cases the sacrament is still part of the repentance process along with talking to your priesthood spiritual leader about it. What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

JAY
We believe in baptism by immersion for the remission of sins by proper priesthood authority. Each week when I attend church it gives me the opportunity to renew the covenants I made at baptism. I was baptized at the age of 8 and I believe I knew right from wrong but I did not fully understand what being a disciple of Christ meant. I still am far from perfect so each week I repent and try to become more like Jesus Christ. Even if I don't always enjoy the talks given I always feel renewed and thankful that I was able to partake of the sacrament to renew my baptismal covenants. Show more Show less

JAY
We believe that we are literal spirit children of our Father in heaven. Thus we are his children and like any loving good father he wants us to live with him and he wants us to reach our full potential, so because we are his children he wants us to be like him in every way. Because the lord has done so much for each of us individually we are all technically "saved" by the atonement without doing anymore we can be resurrected and live in one of his kingdoms, "by the grace of GOD" but in order to reach our potential we have to do somethings! The next part does not come without effort on our part to make and keep covenants and perform ordinances that are performed with proper authority. We will not cease to exist without these ordinances and covenants therefore we will still live eternally, but without these we cannot rise to our potential to become like him or live in the presence of our Father in Heaven. Without them we are not sealed to our loved ones for eternity.   Show more Show less
