Hi I'm Spencer

I'M A MISSIONARY FOR THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS SERVING IN THE ARKANSAS, LITTLE ROCK MISSION.

About Me

I just graduated from high school and left on my mission just after i turned 19. I love to be outdoors- hiking, biking, camping, snowboarding. I also love to play basketball, volleyball, and water polo. I've also enjoyed singing and performing with school groups- even in Disneyland! I have an awesome family and lots of awesome friends who are very supportive of my decision to serve a mission and i'm so thankful for them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm so grateful for the happiness the church has brought me in my life. I know that this is the true church because the scriptures say that by their fruits ye shall know them. As i've continued to strive to follow the commandments i've seen the way i've been blessed. I haven't been perfect but i know that through the atonement all mankind may be saved.

How I live my faith

I serve currently as a full time missionary in the church. I left my home, my family, and my easy way of living, to serve for two years in Arkansas. As a missionary i'm priveleged to be able to invite others to come unto christ all day every day. I've seen the happiness this gospel can bring into the lives of all different kinds of people.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Spencer
Absolutely! Being in Arkansas the last little while has helped me gain even more of an appreciation for the bible. We do also study the Book of Mormon, but not as a replacement of the bible. The Book of Mormon is simply another testament of Jesus Christ- another account given to us so we can better follow him! This year, I set a new year's resolution to read the standard works (Holy Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price) before my mission ends this August. As I have been reading the Bible, I can feel my Faith in Jesus Christ grow Stronger and I have come to more fully appreciate that witness. Show more Show less

Who are the Mormons?

Spencer
"Mormons" is a nickname given to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have been given the nickname "Mormon" because we study the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon- Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Spencer
Go straight to the source of all things good and true- pray to God. As a God of truth, if this is really Christ's church once again restored on earth, that will be the answer to your prayer! Your answer will come by the power of the holy ghost or holy spirit and can come in many different ways- often by a calm, peaceful feeling or a "burning in your bosom." Obtain a copy of the Book of Mormon and read it. When you pray, pray specifically to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet called of God. When God tells you these things are true, that's how you will know Mormonism is true. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Spencer
The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is a record of scripture very similar to the Holy Bible. Just like the Bible, The Book of Mormon is an account of God's dealings with his children here on earth. It testifies of Jesus Christ and his eternal roll as the Son of God. For me, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, The book of mormon is the keystone in my witness of Jesus Christ and is Crucial in the fact that as we gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, we can come to know by that same power that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he has again reached out in love to his children on earth by calling a modern day prophet. It is my testimony that anyone who follows the course set forth in the last chapter of moroni (reading and praying with real intent, faith, and sincerity) can and will come to know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
