Hi I'm Doug

I'm a father of three, and a Building Inspector who lives in Utah (USA), and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a father of three (a girl and two boys). I've been married to my wife for over 12 years now.  I enjoy spending time with my family. My family is everything to me and we enjoy spending time together. We especially love going camping. For my occupation, I work for a local city as a Building Inspector. I love my job because I am constantly learning new things. I really enjoy learning about and teaching code requirements. I also love being able to help others fix things and solve construction related problems. I currently teach classes to help other inspectors and electricians better understand photovoltaic (solar electric) system requirements. I am active in my church, and love helping and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family where we began to go to the LDS church when I was fairly young. I remember an increase of peace we had in our home after we began attending. I remember my parents being happier. As I grew, I continued to attend church with my family. In my later teen years I began to neglect church and slowly fell away from church altogether. I eventually married my high school sweetheart who was also raised LDS, but also inactive in the church. We chose to not live gospel principals because we thought that they weren't for us and that we could be just as happy without them. And at times it did seem that we were just as happy as any religious person, but what we thought was happiness was actually only temporary enjoyment. Over time we began to see the things that brought us true happiness were the things related to teachings of the church, like: families, service, devotion, and love. Despite these feelings we continued to procrastinate going back to church by finding various excuses or reasoning. It wasn't until we lost a baby boy from being born too early that we were awoken to our situation and we realized we must make some changes. We hesitatingly decided to go back to church, but chose to do so without being being partial, or in other words, we didn't want to only follow some of Christ's teachings and not others. We thought we'd at least give it a try and see how it went. The months that followed brought amazing thoughts, feelings, and blessings! We saw a huge difference in how happy we were, and we had a continual peace that cannot be explained in words. We also began to see small miracles take place in our life and in the lives of others. We also began to have truly wonderful, and deeply spiritual thoughts and incredible feelings! Our family has been blessed in so many ways! We know that Christ lives and this is His true church, and invite all to find out for themselves! In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!

How I live my faith

I love the Lord Jesus Christ. Following His teachings has brought clarity, peace, and happiness to my life! Giving service to others brings me a deep sense of gratitude. I have had many wonderful experiences serving others, and have had many spiritual feelings as I've done so. I have served in the church in several different ways, but currently I serve as a secretary making appointments, and helping to make sure others needs are met. It is really neat to see the impact on someone's life when they are cared for. I have found that the more I try to be better and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, the more peace and happiness I have. The amount of peace and happiness I receive is dependant on how much I am willing to do to receive it. The most fulfilling things in this life are things that have been worked for and diligently sought after. Serving the Lord the best I can has brought many blessings into my life, and I have often had deeply spiritual thoughts and feelings when I've done so.
