Hi I'm Lee

I am a life long resident of Utah. I have lived in Salt Lake City, St. George, Provo, Hurricane, Orem.

About Me

Recently I retired from teaching Business, computers, and Financial Literacy. Since retirement my wife and I have started a Preparedness store. We have met a lot of people with common goals and concerns. We also love to see all of our kids and grand kids. (Ten children, 25 Grand Children) We live in a rural community that is what use to be called a "sleepy Little Town." It is great. By 10:00 pm the streets roll up and go home and go to bed. It is quiet place most of the time.

Why I am a Mormon

At First, when I was young, I was a Member of the Church because my parents were members. Then in my teen years I started to question things, everything. It took me a while to figure it all out for myself. I read the Book of Mormon, the Bible and many commentaries of Church Doctrine. That was great and very intellectually exciting, but it did not answer the basic question, Was it true? After spending a lot of time intellectually investigating the Church I realized that the only way I could really find out if it was true, was to ask God and Jesus Christ. So that is what I did. The Lord gave me plenty to think about and after some time through a lot of prayer, soul searching, and study the scriptures, I received a firm feeling that it was true. It is hard to explain how it felt other than to say in my case it was like a fresh breath of air. Kind of like when your out in the mountains on cool morning, and you take a nice deep breath of that clean air. I was at peace with my thoughts about the Church and I knew what my parents had told was true. But I found it out for myself and that was very important for me. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and hope to be able to share it with many other people.

How I live my faith

Presently I have been an teacher in many of the organizations of the Church. The great thing about the Church is that there are organizations for all age groups. The primary is for the very young children ages 3-11; Young Mens and Young Women's for youth ages 12-19: Relief Society for adult Woman, and Priesthood Quorums for Adult Men. Everyone has a place in the Church. My wife and I are involved with helping people prepare for possible disasters such as floods, earthquakes and tornados. We help people learn how to make 72 hour emergency packs. How to put together a three month supply of food for short term disasters. And we teach people how to properly store food for one year. The Church sponsors Boy Scouts of America troops in their Young Mens Program for boys 12 - 19. I have served in many capacities in the BSA such as Scout Master, Merit Badge Councilor, Committee Chair man and advisors in all aspects of Scouting.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Lee
Yes. I enjoy reading the Bible. The Old Testament gives me a historical background of the Lords working with his people. The New Testament provides me with the spiritual background of the Savior Jesus Christ's life. The scriptures are divinely inspired and bring me joy and happiness. The Book of Mormon is the historical, religious, and spiritual history a people that left Jerusalem about 600 years before the time of Christ and learned of the Savior through Prophets while living on the American continent. The story of the Savior's visit to these people after his resurrection is the central theme of the Book. I receive spiritual strength from reading the Book Of Mormon. Show more Show less
