Hi I'm Andy

I live in Atlanta now, but I grew up in New England. I love spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have three kids that keep us very busy. I have never lived in Utah or attended BYU. I served a mission in Northern California and those two years were a huge influence on who I am today. Professionally, I work in the technology field, managing enterprise software development and system implementations. I'm a passionate supporter of my kids' volleyball and soccer teams.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church, so I've been a member all my life. We all hit a point, though, where we need to decide for ourselves what we believe. That point came for me when I was deciding whether to go on a mission. I spent a lot of time studying the scriptures and praying to learn what was right. I received a confirmation that this is the correct path for me and serving a mission strengthened that resolve. Since that time, I have had many additional confirmations that the teachings of the church are true and I want the same kinds of experiences for my family.

How I live my faith

There are, of course, the weekly church meetings, but really living your faith goes far beyond that. I volunteer to work with my local congregation in various capacities. As a family, we read the scriptures together every morning before the kids go to school. We also say prayers together before school and when the kids go to bed. In between those times, we try to be good people and be kind to people the way the Christ would be if He were here.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

I feel like the purpose of my life it to make sure my family return to live in Heaven together. We come here to learn and grow and prove ourselves. I'm grateful that we have a path back through Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe that when a couple is married in the temple that they can be together with their family forever. It brings me great hope and joy to know that I can be with my wife and kids even after this life is over. It makes sense to me that God put us together in families because he wants us to have these rich relationships -- as He knows from His family with us as His children -- and that he would not want that joy to end with death. In whom should we have faith?

I believe the scriptures that say that we need to have faith in Jesus Christ. He is always there and is the only one that has the power to help us to return to live with God. I really like this web page about increasing faith in Christ: http://lds.org/topic/faith-jesus-christ/ Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I'm spending time outdoors, I see many evidences that there is a God. It has always seemed to me that something so beautiful and organized can not happen by chance. I have prayed about this too, though, and have felt a confirmation that God does exist, that we are His children and that He loves us. That knowledge brings me a lot of hope. Show more Show less
