Hi I'm Deborah Coffey

I developed the Interfaith Partnership of St. Charles County, and enjoy working with people of all faiths. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom, but most of the children have grown and left home! So now I have time to go back to school and get my degree. I just finished my Bachelor's degree in Communications, with a certificate in Public Relations. Several years ago I organized the Interfaith Partnership of our local county, and served as its chairman for 4 years. It was exciting to get to know people of other faiths. We had Muslim, Jewish, Bah'ai, Buddhist, and various Christian sects participating in the Interfaith Partnership. I enjoy learning about other people's faiths as well as my own. I find many similarities, but the differences are interesting to learn about as well! I also volunteer as the Director of Communications for the Starfish Foster Home - a foster home in Xi'an, China which cares for disabled orphans and helps get them the medical care they need before being adopted by loving families.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church. When I was a young girl, I went to various churches, read the Bible daily, and prayed. I knew that God was leading me and directing my life. One day, I met the missionaries and learned about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I learned more about the church, and as I did, I prayed to God to know if it was His will that I join this church. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I received very strong answers to both those questions, and knew that Christ's church was back on the earth again. I was the only member in my family to join the church at that time. But later my sister joined as well! I have been a member for many years now, and I have been so extremely blessed by my membership in Christ's church! There is nothing like it in all the world!

How I live my faith

I have many opportunities to be of service in my church. Some time ago I was asked to serve as the Director of Public Affairs for about 10 congregations of our church! I didn't know anything about Public Affairs. But I learned! I enjoyed the opportunities of working with people in the community, side by side, organizing joint projects together. I also enjoyed working in the Interfaith Partnership - learning about people of all faiths - other Christian sects, as well as Jewish, Islamic, Bahai, Buddhist, and others. We are all God's children, and while I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lords' church on the earth, I appreciate and love people from all walks of life. We show Christ-like love by serving together and working together.
