Hi I'm Ian

and I'm a Canadian. I'm studying to become a mineral technologist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town in Northern British Columbia, Canada. I currently study Mining and Mineral Exploration Technology and I aspire to be a mining engineer. I play competitive tennis, but I play almost every other sport out there as well. I love photography and travelling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to two wonderful, Mormon parents who raised me in the church, but never forced anything on me. They led by example and I love them dearly for it. My mother died of breast cancer when I was 8 years old and it was only through the knowledge of our Heavenly Father's plan that my family and I were able to endure this great loss. At the age of 19, due to the wonderful examples set by my father, my brothers and other members from my congregation, I decided to serve a mission for my church. I was called to serve in the Philippines and it was there that I obtained a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. For two years, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve some of the most wonderful, humble people I have ever met. My entire mission, I stayed in remote regions of the Northern Philippines, where I truly gained an understanding of God's love for his children. I struggled, but eventually I learned both the Tagalog and Ilocano languages, which helped me to teach my beloved Filipino brothers and sisters about the all that I cherish dearly in my own life. Why am I a Mormon? I have been asked this question too many times to even count, but the answer is really simple. Everything good in my life I can attribute to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My family's eternal bond, my mission, my gospel knowledge, my love of my fellow man; all of this is linked to my membership in the church. Some may doubt, but I know it is true and no one can take that away from me. I love the Lord. I know that this is His church and it absolutely means everything to me.

How I live my faith

Though it may seem simple, my calling in my young single adult branch is being a member of the activities commitee. I help organize events for my branch and it pleases me so much when people enjoy themselves at functions that I have helped organize. This service helps me stay social and lets me feel like an integral part of a very tight-knit branch family.

Are Mormons Christians?

Ian
A common question I get from new aquaintances when they find out I am Mormon is "Are you a Christian?" The answer is emphatically yes! All Mormons accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. We even have Christ's name stated in our church's name. Christ is the focal point of my life and I know that it is by His grace that I am permitted to return to His kingdom if I follow His example.
