Hi I'm Diane

I'm a stay-at-home mom with a masters degree in social work, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a typical stay-at-home mom of one and one on the way. I find a lot of joy in teaching and having fun with my son. Each day I have a to-do list a mile high. I am task-oriented and like to get things done. Some days, I have to remember, when none of my tasks are checked off my to-do list, that the most important things in life are family relationships. I have to remember that the most important to-do, which can never be checked off any list, is building a better relationship with my son and husband. One of my favorite things to do is learn from other moms. I love interacting with other moms because I feel like we all have similar challenges – my kid won’t sleep, my kid won’t eat, I’m having a hard time feeling satisfied at home, etc. We may not have answers to all the different issues we face, but we gain support, sympathy, and love from listening and helping one another.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the peace, happiness, and direction that comes through having a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The world teaches so many different paths to happiness. It can be so confusing. But I know that following Jesus Christ and the values and principles in his gospel, bring true and never-ending happiness. I am especially grateful to have the gospel of Jesus Christ so I can know what to teach my children. They will be faced with so many different challenges. Different influences will be vying for their attention on every side. The gospel teaches us what influence to follow- Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for that! Now, I don’t have to wonder if one influence is good for me or not. I just have to ask the question – does it keep me close to Christ? Is it in align with His teachings? If not, I know to keep far away! I know it won’t bring me happiness. Heavenly Father wants us all to be happy and will guide and direct us to that happiness through Christ.

How I live my faith

I love how service oriented the gospel is. Members are usually given an assignment to fulfill in their local congregation. My assignment is to teach the children. Each Sunday I have the opportunity to teach 9 year children about Christ, Heavenly Father, and His plan for us. I also love the women’s organization in the church. We each look out for one another. Each woman is given other women to visit and contact each month – to see how they are doing, if they need anything, and to share a spiritual message. The women I visit are very different than me – some have kids, some don’t, some work, some don’t. But we all are able to help and uplift one another and most importantly, learn from each other. One of my strong passions is promoting decency in the community. Virtue seems to becoming less and less popular in our society. However, I see it as one of the most important attributes to obtain. Indecencies such as pornography tear apart families and destroy happiness. When families are destroyed so are societies. I want to do what I can to help others understand how important living a virtuous life is for not only the individual, but his/her family, and his/her community.
