Hi I'm Steve

I'm a husband of 1, father of 5, son of 2, brother of 7, uncle, cousin, and friend. I'm a christian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. I have 5 beautiful children. We live in the Sacramento area but have lived all over the country from Utah to Florida and Ohio to California. I love my family of 7. I enjoy playing basketball, softball, football, hiking, tennis, running, and biking. I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters and my wife comes from a family with 5 girls and seven boys. My kids have over 50 cousins. I teach my children to pray to and love the Lord. We go to church together, we serve together, and we learn together. We are so blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an active LDS family and was taught its doctrine from my youth. I remember having a desire to please God and keep his commandments from a young age. For a few months as a teenager, I struggled with my desire to live the teachings I had always learned and accepted. I realized that happiness follows those that live the teachings of the Master and his church and darkness and emptiness follow those that don't. As I was going through this struggle, I decided to test one of the foundational teachings of the LDS Church: that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that a man would get nearer to God by following the teachings of God found in this book than by any other book. I started reading the Book of Mormon every day on my own, without any reminders from parents or teachers. As I did this, I felt joy enter back into my life and slowly, very slowly in some cases, the Lord started working in me and filling me with Joy. Through this experience and others to come later, I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is God's word and the LDS church is His church restored again on the earth to bless his children and lead them back to Him.

How I live my faith

My faith is in Jesus Christ. I live my faith by teaching my family about His atonement and His commandments. We have family prayer in the morning and the evening together and before meals. We study Christ's life and teachings almost every night before bed. We also take a night every week to spend time together as a family without any distractions. During this evening, we talk about upcoming events, learn about christlike characteristics, and have fun activities together. I also live my faith by helping others learn of Christ and follow his commandments. I visit members of my church each month to see how they are doing, to remind them of their covenants with Christ, and to help them with anything they might need help with. I also teach lessons at church and help organize service projects, missionary activities, and outreach efforts.
