Hi I'm Terri.

I' worked in cancer research. Now I stay at home with two young boys, and run a photo art business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother with two little boys. My husband and I met when I was studying biology and were married after I finished my undergraduate degree. I love research. I did original biology research from high school till I had my first child. I loved the process of learning truth through experimentation. Wanting or thinking something is true is fun, but having the evidence to back it up is fulfilling. I worked in cancer research for a couple years after college as a labortory technician. Even though I loved research, I couldn't imagine that any research I could do would be more fulfilling than having a family. Now I love staying home and taking care of my family. We recently moved across the country for my husband's job, and I'm learning that there are wonderful new experiences everywhere you go. I also run a small business with my sister selling photo art I take. My business has given me the chance to create beauty, which is a joy completely new to me. I find joy in all the aspects of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

When my parents were newly married, they started looking for a church to join together. A friend gave them a Book of Mormon, they read it, and knew it was true. They changed most aspects of their life, joined the mormon church, and raised my family of five children in it. I've never doubted that my parents believed that the mormon church was true. As a teenager I decided I needed to know for myself whether what I had been taught was truth. I read the Book of Mormon all the way through and I felt the Lord speaking to me through it's words. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are the basis of my faith. Through the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I've learned who Jesus Christ is, what He sacrificed for me, and how with His help I can become more than I am. I read from them everyday and receive a witness from the spirit, in my heart, almost everyday that God is real and that He loves me. Since the first time I read the Book of Mormon, I've also grown to have a sure belief that the mormon church is God's organized church on the Earth. Every part of my life is blessed by being a member of the mormon church. The more I try to align my life with the things my church teaches, the closer I feel to God, and the happier I am. Just like when I did research, I gather evidence that God is real and the Mormon Church is His church. This evidence often comes from feelings of peace when I do what is right. Or when I try to be more like the Jesus Christ I am more happy. Or when I exercise faith, I am blessed. I've had years of experimentation and evidence gathering. My faith is really based upon the scientific method. My conclusion is the Mormon Church is Christ's Church.

How I live my faith

Soon after having my first child, I was asked to teach the high school aged kids a scripture class, five times a week, at 6:15 AM!! I had never taught a class full of teenagers before, and I was pretty terrified. But I knew this could be one the greatest experiences of my life, if I could just trust the Lord to get me through it. I taught that class for two years. I taught them the Old Testament one year, and the New Testament the next. I really learned to love those teenagers. I wanted them to have faith in the Lord, like I did, because I knew it could make them happy. I learned how to teach, how to relate to those teenagers, and I learned that the Lord really loved them. Being a member of the Mormon Church means you serve others. I find true happiness when I learn to look beyond myself and serve.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?
