Hi I'm Parker

I'm a college student, entrepreneur, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student studying Advertising and I grew up in San Diego, CA. I recently returned from a mission for my church in Brazil. I love cars, motorcycles, snowboarding, apple computers, and my family and friends. I want to be an entrepreneur and eventually own a multi-million dollar business so I can spend time with my family and travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I firmly believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ restored once again through the prophet Joseph Smith. I am a firm believer that God continues to call prophets to guide and direct his children. I love the doctrine and know it to be the one and only true gospel on the earth. Every time I go to church or the temple, I can feel the spirit and I know that this is the right place to be,

How I live my faith

For me service is extremely important to living my faith. We are all God's children and he gives us many opportunities to help each other. I also live my faith by keeping God's commandments and listening to the Prophet's counsel.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

When serving a mission in Brazil I helped many people find the truth. We never convinced anyone of the veracity of our message, we simply taught them the principles of the gospel and let them ask God if what we had taught was true. That is what is so special about the Church of Jesus Christ, you aren't expected to believe everything you hear. All non-members and members alike are encouraged to pray about what they are taught to receive a special witness from God about the truthfulness of what they had been taught. I grew up in the church and always thought it made sense, but there came a time when I myself had to kneel down and ask God if it really was true. I can't exactly explain my answer, but I felt feelings of peace and love, confirming my question. Just as it says in Galatians 522, the fruits of the spirit are peace, love, joy etc. So when you pray, pay attention to how you feel and you can know for yourself. If you really are interested in learning more and finding out for yourself if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, I HIGHLY recommend you find the missionaries or look on the church website to know the truth. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family comes literally from heaven. God is our father, and we are his children. God put us on earth in families for a reason. To me, I cannot imagine being happy in eternity without my family. That is why Mormons stress so much on helping families grow and develop close relationships so we can continue as families in the celestial kingdom. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Not a single church leader is compensated for his time and service in the church. All of the member's tithing pays for chapels, materials, temples, and other maintenance costs. I once heard a story how tithing is compared to giving God lemons and him giving us lemonade. There is no way the mormon church could be where it is now without the daily sacrifices from its members. I know tithing is a commandment of God and I have seen many blessings come from obeying the law of tithing. Show more Show less
