Hi I'm Normandie

I love people. I love painting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Virginia, near the D.C. area. I love it there! I developed a love for history, culture and art. I have been attending a University for the past 3 years studying Illustration. I am currently on a mission in Santa Rosa California and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

Missionary work has blessed the life of my family. My grandparents were able to have missionaries teach them the gospel. Because of them I have been able to grow up with the influence of the gospel in my life. When I was 12 years old I started going to the class in the church for girls 12-18. The first Sunday that I went, I felt something really powerful in my heart. It was the best feeling in the world! I felt love and peace and the overwhelming desire to keep that in my life. I came to know that that feeling was the Spirit of God. It's a feeling that you can't deny, and for me it motivates me to choose the things which are good and to overcome the obstacles that we each face. I began to truly learn more for myself, what exactly the Gospel of Christ is. I listened to speakers on tape, I listened to music that helped me feel closer to God and I started to read books that helped me learn more. And I went to church every week. Nothing could stop me! There have been many moments in my life that have played a key role in shaping my character, and that was one of them. That's when I knew for myself that the Gospel is true and that the Gospel of Christ is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Another key event in my life was when I started going to BYU. There I began to really search the scriptures. As I read from the Book of Mormon, the stories began to come alive and I felt that feeling again very strongly. I've recieved answers from Heavenly Father straight to me in those words. As I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon together, the Spirit of God shows me and guides me and I know that they truly work together to testify of Christ. I love the gospel and I know that it has brought great joy into my life. I've become a new creature through the Gospel as Paul of the New Testament says! I started as a timid and shy girl without much confidence. As I've come closer to Heavenly Father, I've found that I can be bold and a leader! I'm full of life!

How I live my faith

Right now my faith is a huge part of everything I do. As a missionary I go out and I invite others to come to Christ by developing their own faith in Christ and His Atonement. As I've seen others repent and be baptized and recieve the Gift of the Holy Ghost, it's changed them and its changed me. My faith has become who I am and not just something that I believe. I love being able to talk to people and to get to know them as who they really are a child of God. Each person has a story. Each person has heart ache and hardship and each person has something that brings them joy. Each person has a plan, carefully designed by a loving Heavenly Father. As I see that in each person, I can see the great potential that God sees. It's invigorating and empowering to understand that we are literally all brothers and sisters. We are all in this life together, and the Gospel gives me that perspective. When I remember that, I can't wait to get out there and teach the word!
