Hi I'm Madeline

I'm a college student studying Visual Effects. I love art, theatre, and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophomore in college and I am loving every minute of it... I'm attending art school studying Visual Effects, which is basically digital computer effects for movies/TV/games/etc. I love to sing and act, but I decided long ago that those were hobbies, not career choices. My mom stays at home and my dad is a computer programmer. I have one younger brother who's into marching band. Also, we have two lovely kitties, Velvet and Tyger. I'm excited about learning more in school and in church, though my plans for the future are pretty vague at the moment.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm basically a Mormon because of a friend I had when I was six years old. She asked me to come to church with her so we could be together in Primary, since she was my best friend. I asked my mom what she knew about God, which took her aback, since she knew pretty much nothing about Him. My friend's mother was also friends with my mom, and she invited my mom to activities that the church held, and she must have had a great deal of patience to endure my mother's stubbornness. Eventually, my mom converted to the church, my dad four years later, and my brother and I were both baptized when we turned eight. Since then, I've made a lot of mistakes that have lead me down wrong paths. Even though I was baptized when I was eight, I feel like my true conversion happened many, many years later. It was through my mistakes, my hurt and sorrow, that I came to rely on my Heavenly Father as a source of comfort, knowledge, and strength. He testifies to me daily of his hand in my life, and He manifests the truthfulness of His church to me by the power of the Holy Ghost. I'm nowhere near perfection, but I try my best to draw closer to Him and to learn to rely on His words and His example. I know I can pray for strength, and He will grant me success.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by simply sharing my knowledge, and by serving others whenever I can. My church calling is to be a member of the women's activity committee. Basically, our committee plans events for the women in our area every other Thursday. We are all volunteers, and we do our job because it's important that the women meet together outside of church time, to be social and to learn something new. Outside of the church organization, I am a student who goes to a bible study in her dorm every Sunday after church, where I share my testimony of the gospel with other students of many faiths, and a few of them are not even Christian. Amidst all the non-religious students in my school, I pray over my food and I ask Heavenly Father for help on my art projects. Essentially, I just remember Him, and I try to serve His children as often as I can.
