Hi I'm Louis Guerra

I am a Georgia Tech Engineer. I grew up in Florida. I have five wonderful kids and a beautiful wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of five great children, with one really great son-in-law and one beautiful daughter-in-law and the grandfather to four super grandsons and a beautiful little granddaughter and the husband to one beautiful wife. I enjoy people and doing things. I love to watch a good football game. I also enjoy snow skiing, I am not skilled at the sport, I just enjoy the tremendous beauty of the snow and the mountains. I enjoy sailing and biking. I am an engineer working in healthcare.

Why I am a Mormon

I found the Church after extensive study of numerous religions. I knew the one that I had been raised in was not the right one. As a matter of fact, all of the members of my family eventually left that church. So I initially looked for a church with the programs I thought my family would need. The youth programs of the Church really are impressive. I chose to look closer. The Word of Wisdom is the health law we observe. I had to quit coffee, tea, and alcohol but the results of living the Word of Wisdom are amazing. I thought, how could Joseph Smith have guessed so well in that it is so accurate in leading to health and well being. I work in the health field and am still amazed; Joseph Smith had to be a prophet, 150 years of poor advise from the medical profession have still not caught up to his revealed health law. Then there was the Book of Mormon. How did Joseph Smith know that horses and elephants were on the American continent before the time of Christ? I was taught that they came over with the Spanish. They found remains in the tarpits of California that validated the Book of Mormon. And there were wheels in this continent at the time of Christ and they found toys with wheels that once again validated the book. I found many such validations. But even more, the Book of Mormon tells of the resurrected Christ visiting the Americas. Why did the people of this continent welcome the Europeans as the returning God? And how can a lay ministry have built such a well run organization, it is through devine revelation as there is no company on the planet that is so well organized or run. I am continually adding to my testimony as I study and pray. I am also experiencing miracles in performing priesthood responsibilities. I love the people of the Church. I love the inspired leaders. It is a joy to belong to something so good.

How I live my faith

I work with others to help them find employment. The great majority are not members of my faith but all are good people. I am the employment specialist for my congregation. The Employment Program of the Church is absolutely the best. We teach some of the most powerful concepts and principles I have ever seen. Recently, I worked with a young man who had received his degree in nursing. He was trying to find a job as a RN but had been unsuccessful for almost half a year. I taught the basics from the workshop and practiced interviewing techniques with him. He was able to land a job in under two weeks. My parents had a neighbor who had tried for two years to gain employment, he used the programs to get a good job in under two months. I am working with a non-denominational Christian teen center. I hope to teach these basic life skills to these young people. I have had many callings in the Church, my favorite is teaching 7 year olds as they are perparing for Baptism. We teach them the Articles of Faith, 13 fundamental points of doctrine. So they learn that we believe in God, the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. We believe that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind may be saved by obedience to laws and ordanances of the Gospel. I find great joy in sharing in their baptism where I often gave talks.
