Hi I'm Marianne

Born and raised in Utah. Married. Law Student. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Professional student. Loved studying history as an undergraduate and am now embarking on the adventures of law school. Love the outoors, especially when fishing or hiking with my dog. Enjoy classical music when feeling studious, and classic rock when relaxing. I am lucky to have a wonderfully supportive family.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know God loves each of His children. Out of love he sent his Son so that we could have support through our trials and have a way to return to Him. Out of love He continues to speak through living prophets and apostles so that we can know how to better follow the example of Jesus Christ. I have felt His love for me individually and for others in my life. I know He is very aware of each of His children, and guides each one.

How I live my faith

I try to find as many opportunities to serve others as I can. I stay involved in community volunteer organizations such as hospice work or youth programs. On a day-to-day basis I try to be patient and Christlike to those I encounter. On a personal level, remembering to have faith in God's plan for my individual life helps me live a happy life each day despite challenges.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Marianne
We believe that Christ's commandment to his apostles to "go ye therefore and teach all nations" (Matt 28:19) remains in effect today. Missionaries go throughout the world to teach others about Jesus Christ--his life, his teachings, and the impact he can have on one's life. The unique part of the message that missionaries share is about a living prophet who Christ speaks through today. Missionaries get to spread the good news that Christ's gospel has been restored to the earth in the same organization that he established when he was here on the earth--apostles and prophets. Missionaries are happiest when they are able to share the beliefs that have helped them most with any of God's children (and then to see the message bless them too!). Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Marianne
Church buildings are busy places. The most important role of a church building is a place for Sunday worship, which lasts for 3 hours every Sunday. During the week the church building is used for various other activites--youth programs, sports activites in the gym, women's groups, scouts organizations, or even perhaps individual family functions. Temples are also busy places. Temples are sacred, holy places where we can go to gain individual direction for our lives. In the temple we make or renew promises with God to keep his commandments. The temple is a place for us to reflect on God's plan for us as individuals. One of the greatest blessings of the temple is that it offers families the chance to be linked together for eternity. Temple attendance is done during the week according to the schedule/needs/desire of the individual. Show more Show less
