Hi I'm Jennifer

I'm a home-school mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother of three beautiful children. I am a homemaker and part-time technical writer. I recently graduated with my Associates Degree and plan to return to school for a BA in Physics. My husband is a graduate student and teacher and our children (ages 2-7) love being taught at home. We love to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

First, I am Mormon because it makes sense to me and brings me peace. I had the opportunity of being raised Mormon and have gained a personal testimony of the mission and divinity of my Savior Jesus Christ. Through many experiences I have learned that the Lord loves me and I am a daughter of God. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. Second, I believe the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God, and I strive to live by the doctrine taught within their pages. Third, I am Mormon because I believe Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and they directed him to reorganize "The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." This is the same church as the Primitive Church that Christ himself organized. I am so grateful for Joseph Smith's testimony and sacrifice that helped to bring about this great restoration. Also, I feel blessed to be guided and directed by a living prophet. No matter the winds of change in philosophy in the world, I know I can listen to him and stay grounded in truth. Today, President Thomas S. Monson leads our church and I sustain him and each member of his presidency and the quorum of the twelve apostles as prophets, seers and revelators.

How I live my faith

I work with the children in my ward (my congregation). We sing a song called "He Sent His Son." I live my faith when I follow the lyrics of this song (which are, in part): What does the Father ask of us? What do the scriptures say? Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, Help others on their way. When I am faithful, hopeful, emulate Christ and serve those around me I know I am at my best. Matthew 11: 28-30 reads, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons do regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God, as long as it is translated correctly. Historically the Bible has been subject to change at the whims of government or other churchs' officials to serve their political ambitions. Mormons take their counsel from the King James version of the Bible. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Mormon Missionaries pay for their own missions--sometimes they receive help from family and other ward members. Show more Show less
