Hi I'm Tom

I build computer models of the brain. I speak italian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Tucson, AZ, but I've grown to love the midwest. I am married (3 years), and we are expecting our first child, a boy :) I am a medical student, and am pursuing an academic career. I want to research diseases that people are suffering from, but also spend time with them. I love people. I love all things italian, and spent my first few years here in little Italy. I served a mission in Italy for our church, and grew to love both the italian culture, and the italians themselves.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager, I struggled to know if there was a God in the universe, if there was a purpose for our lives, and if I was really alone in the world. I drove away from Tucson, a few hours into the mountains, not seeing another trace of another soul within miles. I knelt, and prayed to my Father in Heaven. There, on my knees, he told me that He loves me. I asked if the Book of Mormon is true, and he answered me that yes, it is. Ever since that day, my testimony, my faith, and my knowledge grew; that we do have a father in heaven, that he loves us, and that Jesus is the Christ.

How I live my faith

My wife and I discuss church topics, and work hard to help one another to live as Jesus Christ taught. I read the scriptures each day (especially the New Testament and the Book of Mormon). We pray together each day, and I pray alone multiple times a day. My prayers often are prayers of gratitude. I pray for others when I recognize they are struggling. I pray for strength to change, to repent, and to come onto Christ. I share my testimony in the hopes that others too may be blessed by the gospel.
