Hi I'm Ashlynd

I'm a working college student, currently on a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I attend a local community college and I'm hoping to finish there in two short semesters with my AA in criminal justice. I'm on the 3 year plan instead of two, but I have a good excuse. I took a year off school to pursue an AuPair, live-in nanny, job in Australia; where I lived for 7 wonderful months. Living there opened my eyes to how amazing the church is, no matter where you go it remains the same. I love trail running, swimming, snowboarding (being active in general), music, art and most of all, learning about the gospel. I'm now serving a mission in Nebraska, what I consider, the greatest mission in the world!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the church has been a great blessing to me. From a young age I knew where I came from and where I was going; but that doesn't mean I took hold of the truth when it was handed to me. Everyone says that you can lean on your parents testimonies for a time, but there will come a day when you have to figure it out for yourself. This I know to be true. In my life I have found that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the one constant I can always count on. Through my parents divorce, awkward and trying teenage years, and in today's diminishing morals; I have found stability through my testimony. I know that my Savior lives, I see evidence of it EVERYDAY. Prayer has helped me form a relationship with my Father in Heaven and there is no doubt in my mind that He hears and answers my pleas. I cannot receive a smile, see the sunset, or learn about the mechanics of our bodies without attributing all the beauty to my Heavenly Father, whom sent His son, to die, for me. The atonement is real. The times I feel I cannot make it on my own I am lifted up through the atonement; for I know that as I do all I can, even if I lack, Christ will make up the difference. I am never alone. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and restored this gospel to the Earth. Since, we have had a prophet to guide us and show us the way. Today that role is fulfilled by Thomas S. Monson, his words are those of God. I KNOW that if we will heed the words of the prophet and study the scriptures we will not be led astray. The gospel has given me strength to know who I am, to make it through days I thought would never end, to strive to be better, to love those around me, and to want to serve. I would not be the person that I am without it.

How I live my faith

As I stated, I'm currently on a mission. I get to live every day in the service of my Father in Heaven. Each day I pray to do my Father's will and I know that as I do so I am guided by His Spirit to those who are in need of direction, comfort, and truth. Even if I wasn't on a mission I would be striving to live what I believe because I know that as I do so I grow closer to God. He helps us as we help Him; which, again, we can do as we live our testimonies. Just as we now look to Christ to know how we should live, because He was the perfect example; we need to live in such a way that others may look to us to know how Christ lived. -Do unto other as you would have others do to you -Forget yourself and find God -serve your FAMILY: Forget About Me I Love You These three points have helped me live my faith. Faith is an action word, which means it calls us to DO not just to be.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Ashlynd
In my life, everything helps me to know that there is a God. As I wake up in the morning and do my daily exercise I recognize how incredible my body is and all of it's abilities. Not only do I know at this point that my body is wonderful but the nature around me allows me to see the beauty of God's creations. I know that Earth did not form on it's own, it has a maker. Then when I get home I eat a delicious breakfast, again our bodies are incredible, they digest food and when given fuel can continue to run throughout the day. Driving to work, school, or "play" creates opportunities for me to travel to many different places in a short time. Without our minds and knowledge, given to us by the Lord, we would not be able to do so. Again, I am able to see the beauty around me as I travel AND in my travels I am protected, I arrive at my said destinations. My family and friends explicate God's existence to me. I am loved far greater then I can even imagine and have so many blessings. There is a God because we have a place to belong, a family. I wish I could list every aspect of my life and allow others to see how His hand has been in my life ALWAYS; I think this will suffice for now. Show more Show less
