Hi I'm Joseph

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work too much. I follow soccer, baseball and football. I play the drums. I love my wife. I love my kids. I love Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of several little experiences that I have had throughout my life. Sometimes it is really hard. Sometimes it is lonely. Sometimes the additional work expected of you is really demanding. Then every once in a while, you open your eyes and you can see the hand of the Lord in your life. Then you open your ears and you can hear His Spirit whispering that you are a child of God. It is comforting to know that He is in control. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ because He has prepared a way for my family to be an eternal family.

How I live my faith

-I follow the 10 commandments. -I go to church every Sunday and manage additional church responsibilities. -Monday nights, my family tries to have a 'family night' -I strive to be 100% honest in all of my dealings. -When I wake up in the morning, I say a prayer and read from either the Book of Mormon, the Bible, or the Doctrine and Covenants. -I read scriptures and say prayers with my family every night. -I look for opportunities to serve others and make their days a little brighter. -I tithe 10% of my income to the church and give a monthly fast offering to the poor. To sum it up, I strive to live my life as Jesus would have me live. When I fall short, I repent.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity is a commandment from God. In the scriptures, our bodies are compared to temples, and as such, they are sacred. The power of creation is likewise sacred and should only be used when a couple is legally married. I have been blessed by obeying this law. It has helped me avoid heartache and sorrow, and as with all of God's commandments, through obedience to God's laws, our faith grows and we are blessed. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority given from God to act in His name. A person with the priesthood can baptize, bless the sick, preach the gospel, collect tithes and offerings, bless the sacrament, and do anything else that God wants when the responsibility is delegated to him. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in “eternal life?”

Many religions believe in eternal life, they just describe it differently. Some religions refer to Heaven and Hell, others Nirvana or something else. I don't think that the concept is all that different. Mormons believe that we lived with God as His spirit children before we were born into this life. We were sent to earth to be tried and tested as well as receive physical bodies. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we can overcome death and our own personal sins (disobedience to Gods laws) and live with our families together in the next life. As for why we believe it, I think that it is really a personal thing. Somewhere along the way we learn through experience that Jesus Christ and God are real and they love us. Once this is understood, it is easy to understand that they prepared a plan that would allow us to have eternal life. Show more Show less
