Hi I'm D.J.

I'm doing my best at life.

About Me

With Father's help, I'm doing my best to be a humble, loving, and loyal husband and father. I am an attorney and I love anything outdoors, including hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, sea kayaking and (hopefully soon) sailing. I am very blessed to have married my best friend to share this life and the next.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me very much. I believe that Father has not stopped speaking to his children and also believe that he reveals Gospel truth through living prophets. I am intensely thankful for a Savior and for his saving grace in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith most completely by trying each day to give my heart to my Father in Heaven. I do this by trying to have a conversational intimacy with him and by doing my best to listen to his voice and follow his promptings. When I fall short of that goal, I rely on my Savior's atonement to make up for my shortcomings and resolve to return my heart to Father.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

D.J.
One of the the doctrines of Mormonism that I believe in the most is the knowledge that, through the atonement of Christ, we can live together as families -- husband, wife, and children -- for eternity. I believe that we came down to earth hard-wired to make spiritual and physical connections with others. In the 1940's John Bowlby, through significant studies, came to the conclusion that keeping precious others close is a survival technique wired in by evolution. Again, I believe that "wiring" was created by the master "electrician" and that it is not an accident of evolution. Those intimate connections are key to our spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health and survival. It seems to me that it would be a cruel God that would wire us that way and then deny it to us after our short time here on earth is over. But Father is not cruel and wants nothing more than our joy -- in this life and the next. Therefore, I know that I can reunite with my sweetheart and my children on the other side of the grave and live with them, my ancestors, and most important, Father in Heaven, forever. This knowledge gives me hope and much peace in this life. Show more Show less
