Hi I'm Alan

I live in Kansas, USA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad and a grandpa. I have lived in Kansas most all my life. I work for the US Army as a civilian employee.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon when I was sixteen years old after reading the Book of Mormon and finding its teachings valuable. It led me to Christ. It is a book of great value to me. I feel the Holy Spirit when I live by its teachings and those of the New Testament gospels.

How I live my faith

We study the scriptures every day as a family and meet together for gospel study and fun on Monday evenings. I try to be a good citizen of my nation and community. I was asked to assist our Stake President (leader of several Mormon congregations in the area) to succeed in ministering to the needs of the people of the church in this area. I do this by making appointments for people needing to see him and by helping plan area Church conferences a few times a year. My son and I visit a few families in our congregation every month to minister to them. I try to be a good Christian. It isn't always easy, but God is very merciful and I keep trying.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

I know that Mormonism is true because I have read the Book of Mormon, pondered the message it contains, asked God in prayer to tell me if it was true, and receiving a "revelation" of sorts: a feeling of peacefulness, love, and assurance that the Book of Mormon was from God, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and that the Mormon Church was for real the old Biblical Christian Church brought back to the earth through him. What do Mormons believe about family?

Mormons believe that the family was meant to last forever. We believe that when a man and a woman are married in a Mormon Temple, that the officiator there has divine authority to pronounce us married to one another forever, and that our children are ours forever. This helps me to treat my wife and children more preciously that I might otherwise. Show more Show less
