Hi I'm Matt

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe in Jesus Christ. His Church has been restored

About Me

My story of church membership and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His restored gospel begins with my ancestors who came to America in the 1800's from Scotland, England and South Africa. Because of their legacy and faith I was able to be born into a wonderful active LDS family in Salt Lake City, UT. I now have the blessing of raising my own children in the church and watching them develop their own testimonies of the Savior, the Book of Mormon, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. My wife and I were married in the Holy Temple and are sealed to each other, and to our children, for time and all eternity. We love the church, the living prophet and apostles and we know that true happiness in this life, and eternal life in the next, can only come through living the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and loving and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in what He taught and in what He did. I have been to Jerusalem and I have stood in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. I have literally walked where the Savior walked, but this is not why I believe in Him. I believe in Him because I have felt His spirit and presence in my life. I have received answers to my prayers. I have felt His influence guiding me and teaching me how to live a better life and how to serve others. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His restored church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I have to live my faith daily by reading the scriptures, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon - which is another testament of Jesus Christ, by praying individually and with my wife and children, and by keeping the covenants I made at baptism and in the Holy Temple. I firmly believe that there is power in the scriptures to help deliver us from temptation and the evil influences of the world. I served a two year mission to southern France where I taught others about my beliefs and helped them to enjoy the blessings of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I currently serve in my local ward as a member of the Bishopric. As President Monson has said " I know of no experience more sweet or feeling more precious than to heed a prompting only to discover that the Lord has answered another person’s prayer through you." This is what I enjoy most about serving in the Church! It is a privilege and a blessing to serve the Lord by serving others.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

You can get nearer to God and find power and strength to overcome temptations and wickedness. You can learn about the Savior and His atonement and how to "come unto Him". You can find answers to your prayers and receive guidance and direction in your own personal life. As you study the scriptures you will find the true doctrine of Christ and you will learn what all men must do to receive eternal life, the greatest of all the gifts of God. I love to read the scriptures because I feel a connection to the people and stories in the Bible and Book of Mormon and I can learn from their experiences. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

The Family is ordained of God. To me this means that the Family unit is sacred and that our Heavenly Fathers wants us to have strong, happy families. Because of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, priesthood authority and temples, the family can be eternal. Husbands and wives can be married in the Temple and be sealed to one another for time and all eternity. Strong families are built upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. The home is a sacred place where we should be free from the evil influences and temptations of the world. I love my family and want to be with them for all eternity. Show more Show less
