Hi I'm Abby

I live in Phoenix, AZ with my husband Gabe, our big white dog, named Texas and a little girl on the way. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the sun. I love to be happy. I love all things bright and colorful. I love meeting new people and making new friends. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Ut. I come from an amazing family with so much to give. When I was in college, I wanted to experience new things. I lived in Ecuador for four months, working with and helping out in orphanages. Those kids changed my life. They taught me to be happy, to serve and to laugh and to be grateful for what we are blessed with. I came home and became a counselor for a summer youth program. I love working with kids and teaching them a little about life. A few months later, I met my cute husband. We were married and moved to Phoenix, AZ where he attends MBA graduate school. For his school, together, we traveled to Europe to continue his studies. I love learning about other cultures and people. We returned home to Phoenix to find out we are expecting a little girl! I work out of our house, doing eyelash extensions for women. I love what I do, I love that I get to become friends with so many people through my work. I love to run, especially in the early desert mornings. Exercise makes me happy, makes me sane. We live in a small cozy house with a big, white, American Bulldog named Texas. Life is hot here in Arizona but we love it. We are so blessed with family and friends. We are blessed to go to church every Sunday with friends that quickly became our family away from home. We are happy to call this place home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. Along with my family, it is the biggest blessing in my life. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. I was taught at an early age that I came from a Heavenly Father who loved me. I was taught that I am a child of God. I was taught that I have a Savior, Jesus Christ who suffered for my sins so that I can return to Heaven. I was taught that there is a plan here on earth for me and that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father, with my Savior and that I will be with my family forever. As those things were taught to me, they sunk into my soul and filled my life with light. It gave me a purpose in life. As I grew older, I began to question and to wonder if those things that were taught to me my whole life were true. I turned to my Heavenly Father and asked Him in sincere prayer. I read the Book of Mormon and I asked if the words that I read were true. I learned about the Prophet, Joseph Smith. I learned of his life. I learned about the church. And again, I asked my Heavenly Father if this church was true, if this prophet was a true prophet of God. Time after time I received a conformation in my heart that it was. Sometimes the feelings of conformation were so powerful that I would cry and smile. I could not deny what I felt. It was true! It is true! Being a Mormon makes me Happy. Knowing where I come from, why I am here and where I am going gives me comfort and confidence. I am a child of God!! What an amazing thing to know! It gives my life a purpose. It gives hope to a world of despair. When you know that you are special and that you come from God, it brings light into your life. I want to be a Mormon because of that. I want to be good and do good in the world because of that. I want to serve others because I know that is what God would want me to do. He wants His children to be happy. Being a Mormon brings peace and happiness into my life and into the life of my Family.

How I live my faith

I am a Mormon all day, every day. I live my Faith in HOW I live. I pray to my Heavenly Father for guidance and direction in my life. I fill my home with pictures of Jesus Christ and of temples. They are reminders to me and my family of the things that matter most in life. I try to follow the example that Jesus Christ set for us when He walked the earth. He was kind and gentle. He loved the poor, the weak and the sick. He was a friend to everyone He met. He spent time with the children and He served those in need. He taught things most important in this life. He was happy and cheerful. I try to follow Him. I try to be an example of Jesus Christ and His teachings in the world around me. I try and serve others around me and help in ways I can. I attend church with my husband every Sunday. There, I am a leader for the girls aged 12-18. I teach them lessons on Sundays about standards and values. I, along with the other youth leaders, teach the girls that they are daughters of God. We teach them to live their life in a way that exemplifies that. In order to teach that, I must live that way myself. I have set high standards and values for me and my life. I choose not to participate in drugs or alcohol. I dress in a way that is modest and tasteful. I listen to good music that uplifts my spirits and brings light into my life. I read the Book of Mormon, the Bible and other good words that inspire me and teach me a righteous way of living. I listen to the Prophet and follow his words. I know that the words that come from our Prophet are counsel from my Heavenly Father. I live my life to be happy. And to follow Heavenly Fathers plan for me. I know that when I am doing the things that I know are right, I am Happy. And that is what He wants me to be; happy.
