Hi I'm Julia

I grew up near the beach in California. I'm nerdy & outdoorsy at the same time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of seven children. I have a Bachelors degree in Theatre Arts, and work as a manager in retail. I love books, theatre, video games, manga, anime, Korean dramas, camping, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I'm nerdy enough to actually dress up in costumes for anime conventions, and outdoorsy enough to camp for days on end. While I really enjoy fantasy books, I read a lot of different genres because I love giving friends the perfect reading recommendation. I live out on a ranch with my dog and husband, and enjoy the wildlife around me. However, the best days are days I when my friends and family get together to celebrate for any good reason at all.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth I had some questions about being Mormon, but then I took the challenge to really study my questions and then earnestly pray to Heavenly Father about them. I had never prayed so hard before. While I prayed a warm feeling came over me, and I felt like I was filled with light. At that time Heavenly Father confirmed to me that this is His church. Since then I have continued to learn more about the Gospel and it just keeps confirming to me over and over again, that this is the way to true happiness. In my life and in the lives of those around me I have seen what a dramatic difference there is between being a Mormon and not. I have family and friends who have passed through difficult trials of divorce, terminal illness, losing loved ones, and more. However, being Mormon gives you hope in those times of need. Instead of sadness or grief I have seen people go through terrible things with hope and peace and come out on the other side a better person because of it. I am a Mormon because it makes every day easier. It helps me know exactly who I am, where I am in life, where I need to go, and how to get there. I am a Mormon because it gives me peace and hope no matter what.

How I live my faith

In addition to personal things like attending church every Sunday, reading the scriptures daily, and praying often I get to work with the youth ages 12-18. I work with others to plan activities and lessons for the youth to help them learn everything from charity to changing a car tire. I also have several grown women that I visit individually each month to talk about church and also to see what their needs are. My favorite thing to do for church is to attend the temple with my husband. Not only am I able to help others through going to the temple, I have found many answers and plenty of comfort when we visit.
