Hi I'm Blair

I grew up in Boise, ID. I am a 5th-generation member of the Church. I'm a Mormon by choice, however, not tradition.

About Me

I like to play sports like basketball and volleyball. I am a Ham (Amateur) radio operator. I am married with 8 children. I work in Information Technology building databases and Internet applications.

Why I am a Mormon

No greater joy can be found than in the family. I am grateful to be married to a wonderful woman for all eternity. The Gospel was a great comfort to me and my family when one of our daughters died of heart failure just before her first birthday. It is because of the Gospel that I know that families endure forever and that I will see my daughter again someday.

How I live my faith

I get to use my computer skills as a clerk. I help maintain all the computer systems, financial and other records, and teach/train new clerks for our congregations in North-Central Montana, even though some are two hours away by car. Though I spend ~20 hours per month in my duties, I do not get paid. I sacrifice my time because I am helping the people whom I serve to grow closer to the Savior.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Just after celebrating the New Year in 2010, our family was devastated when our baby girl died of a heart condition just before her first birthday. Though she was our 7th child, we loved her every bit as much as our other children. As the funeral came and passed, the most comforting part was knowing that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, families could be together forever and that we would see Carissa again. We were also comforted knowing that Christ's Atonement paid the price for sin so that little children were innocent in the eyes of God. As we read books afterward, a stark statistic stood out to us: 9 out of 10 couples get divorced after losing a child. My wife and I both tried to comprehend how a child's death could affect someone without a knowledge of life after death and the Plan of a loving God. We are grateful for the Savior and all He has done to provide a path whereby families can be eternal. We are especially grateful for the Book of Mormon and how it helped us to recover and grow from this experience. Heavenly Father lives. He wants us to be happy and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to enable us to live together with our families forever. I miss my daughter, but I am confident the day will come when I shall sweep her into my arms and tell her how much I love her. Show more Show less
