Hi I'm Amanda

I love chocolate chip cookies. I served a mission on Temple Square. I read Middle English. I am an artist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am twenty-three. I served a mission on Temple Square and in Spokane, Washington. I graduated with a degree in English Literature and Art History from Florida State University, and I want to learn hebrew one day and I am going to school for Massage Therapy. I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the only member of the church in my family. I have green eyes, and I can't decide on a favorite color. I don't like nicknames. I feel that art is the way we can see into an individual's soul, no matter what form of expression it takes. I love to read. I love to play. I love being outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Lord. I don't know everything and I can't explain half of what I do know, but I love the Savior and I want to live my life according to that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I try to emulate Jesus Christ.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity is a principle of the gospel that all members of the church should strive to adhere to. Because God loves us and cherishes purity, He has commanded us to remain virtuous and modest in our relationships with others. In accordance with the Law of Chastity, we are asked not to engage in any activity that would cause unclean thoughts or desires to enter into our minds or hearts, and to remain sexually pure before marriage (i.e. don't do anything that leads to having sex), and completely faithful to our spouses after marriage. We should not encourage unclean thoughts in other people, or do anything to cause ourselves or another person to sin. Pornography, fornication, adultery, and homosexual relationships are all things to be avoided. Also, we are encouraged to set high standards in regards to our clothing, being modest and conservative in what we wear, so as to avoid temptation within ourselves and others. Our bodies are temples in the eyes of God, and the Holy Spirit will not reside in an unclean vessel. For this reason, as well as for our own physical and emotional health and security, we have been commanded to keep the Law of Chastity. It is a safeguard to us if we allow it to be, and a guide for the way we should interact with members of the opposite sex in intimate relationships. Show more Show less

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Good Question! You may log on to mormon.org -this website- and ask to chat with a missionary online! Also, you may call the number on the website to request missionaries and a free Book of Mormon. The missionaries in your area would also love to talk to you about our beliefs, where you can find a local meetinghouse, and answer any questions you might have! Show more Show less
