Hi I'm Ben

I am an entrepreneur. I love to cook, write music, and eat ice cream. I have a wonderful family. And, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Right now, I'm to starting a new businesses and enjoying life. I'm the father of three great kids #4 on the way and husband of a wonderful wife. I love to learn, think, and try new things. I find it difficult to walk by a piano and not tickle the keys. Tacos are still my favorite food and I think Breyer's All Natural Vanilla Fudge Twirl Ice Cream is the best! My iPod is filled with all kinds of music and many podcasts I listen to while I ride my bike to work. I believe in helping other people have a great day because God wants us to be happy! I'm grateful to be a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

For along time, I went to church because that is just what my parents taught me. Fortunately, this "habit" provided fertile ground for the real meaning of what it all meant to begin to grow within me. Now as a father, I have found that my testimony of the reality and love of our Heavenly Father is much deeper. I know that Jesus Christ is my (and your) Savior and Redeemer. They know me and you, and they are ready and able to help us. I am grateful that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives me the opportunity to live my faith. I am grateful that I am empowered to know for myself that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that all things testify of Christ. I know that by the power of the Holy Ghost, we can know the truth of all things. This knowledge is available to all who are willing to follow the steps to gain it. I encourage you to take a leap of faith in something good (even if things are good now) and learn more about the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

Although it's not always picture perfect, my family enjoys reading the scriptures and having family prayer daily. I work with the 12 & 13 year old young men at church. But to be honest, I have found that the more I learn, the less my faith is Sunday activity. In other words, the truths and principles of the Gospel are applicable 24/7. I use what I learn to better understand the world, business, etc.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Ben
As noted before, being a father has deepened my understanding of God. Trying to teach my kids how to be safe and happy has helped me reflect on the patience and understanding Heavenly Father shows me. When I see my kids forget, ignore, or disobey me, I think about how my actions and attitude must seem to Him. This reflection humbles me and helps me show my kids more patience and understanding. Furthermore, as I have realized my love for my family growing over time, I am humbled by the reality that He has a perfect love for them, me and you. He wants us to succeed! He wants us to be happy! He even sent His Son to help show us the way to be and provide the way to become like Him! Although I struggle, I find hope, comfort, and guidance in my aspiration to be a father like Him someday. Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Ben
Women seem to generally have a natural inclination to serve others. Some call it a "motherly instinct". Regardless of what you want to call it, this divine nature is not as natural in men. The priesthood, available to all worthy men, is only able to be used in the service of others. I have personally found that the Christ-like attributes women seem so easily to access, are slowly becoming a part of me as I use the priesthood to serve others. It has strengthened my faith in God and increased my gratitude for Him allowing me to participate in serving His children beyond my normal capacity. Show more Show less
