Hi I'm Lindsey

I'm a devoted family gal that works as a hairstylist & lives to have fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the mother of a beautiful son and love every minute I get to spend with him and my husband! I fill the rest of my time with hairstyling, crafts, running, aerobics, blogging, reading, or shopping. I have attended college, beauty school, and have worked for the past 6 years in a salon. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

There are many religions throughout the world, but I choose to be Mormon. I grew up knowing that I was a child of God and that he had a specific plan for me. It wasn't until my early high school years that I really acted upon that knowledge and put it to work. I decided to make many things a matter of prayer. I prayed to feel of God's love for me in my life, to know that God still speaks to man on earth through a modern-day prophet, and if there was more scripture from Him that is true. It was a clear answer when it came. I knew in my heart and mind that the Lord was mindful of me and answered my sincere prayers. Since that day I have known and will always know that God lives, he loves his children and speaks to us through a prophet on the earth today. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is indeed a book of holy scripture given from God for us to apply and learn from today. The way I feel when I pray, read the scriptures, and listen to the words of the modern prophet solidify my decision in being a Mormon. I know it is the religion that contains the complete truthfulness of the Gospel of Christ.

How I live my faith

It's important to me to be involved in my church's congregation. There are so many people from so many different backgrounds that you can learn to love, serve, and follow their examples. I am in charge of organizing a system we call 'Visiting Teaching'. Each sister in the ward is assigned to 'look after' a few other sisters in the congregation and make sure she is doing well and that all her needs are being met. I keep a record of all the visiting teachers and make sure they have met with their sisters every month. We are all the Lords hands here on earth and so I believe that through 'visiting teaching' we help Him meet the needs of His children. I enjoy attending my Sunday meetings and feeling the spirit speak to my heart and mind. I know it's important to gather often as a congregation to learn from one another and come together in worship. I also believe that praying daily and reading frequently from my scriptures are extremely important in aiding in the growth and strength of my faith. Having a testimony of what you believe is fragile and I believe that the Lord has provided us many things to do on a daily basis to help us hold on and build upon the knowledge that we have.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our church service is very reverent and focuses on our Savior Jesus Christ. We have 3 separate meetings that take place right after one another and last an hour each. Our first meeting is called Sacrament meeting where we partake of the sacrament in remembrance of Jesus Christ. We sing religious hymns (books are provided) and hear the thoughts and testimony that was prepared by 2-3 assigned people from the congregation. We do not pass a plate or request donations as part of our worship service. Our second meeting is Sunday school where we we are taught and discuss the scriptures and lessons we can learn from the Lords teachings. Third meeting consists of specific meetings for men/women where we gain strength from one another as we review and learn our role in life and the Lords plan for us. Visitors are MORE than welcome at our church services. You will probably feel more comfortable in a semi-formal attire. (since the majority of the congregation is in skirts/blouses, white dress shirts & ties). We will make sure you know where to go for classes and get the most out of your experience. If you're deciding whether or not to go.....just GO! You wont regret it and I can promise you that if you go with an open heart than you will feel the influence of the holy spirit speak to your heart. Show more Show less
