Hi I'm Caleb

I could look through a telecope all night long. Sometimes I do. I love astronomy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad and I just graduated from college. I love my wife and my children and would do anything for their wellbeing. School was a challenge for me, but my family helped me through and my kids actually motivated me to do my best. I love to listen to bluegrass music, do backyard astronomy, and read science fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormons at the time I was born, so I've been a Mormon all my life. Here is why I'm STILL a Mormon 1. I make mistakes. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches me that I can repent and be forgiven. This gives me the peace that I need to feel good about my life. 2. I know that I can live with my wife and family forever, even after death. 3. I need direction from God and I believe the whole world needs the same direction. Our prophet, the President of the Church, Thomas S. Monson, communicates with the Lord and gives us the direction we need.

How I live my faith

I maintain the name and address list of the members our ward local church building. Since we live near a law school, people move in an out a lot, so there is plenty of work! Once a month I visit the homes of 5 families from our churh. I go with someone else from the church, and we share a spiritual message and offer our help to these families. They might need help moving, fixing something, or some advice that we may be able to provide.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We believe that when we are serving each other, we are actually serving God. And we are happy to do it.  Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I look at the sky at night, especially from somewhere away from the city lights, I am genuinely AMAZED at how many stars there are. I believe that our Heavenly Father put them there for us. They light up the sky - can you imagine living in a world where the night sky was just completely dark. I mean, even if the only thing in the sky at night was the moon, the heavens would seem so empty without the stars. During the new moon, the night would be pitch black - before electricity it would have been a pretty dark world. I think that our loving Father included those in the creation of the world not only for light, but to help the ancients navigate, and to make Earth a more beautiful place to live in. Now when you take a telescope and look past the stars of our own galaxy, you really begin to feel how great and powerful God is. You see galaxies - groups of millions of stars, far away. And the number of galaxies is now estimated to be in the hundreds of billions! Look it up! None of these wonders of space happened by coincedence - that would have been a huge coincedence! This makes me realize that God really is all-powerful, and that he really loves us. Just think - the same God who created our world, the moon, the sun, the planets around us the same who created our galaxy, and all of the countless other galaxies - that same God will answer your prayer.  Show more Show less
