Hi I'm Kyle

I'm a college student, an athletic musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 21 years old, I'm attending college studying communications and music. I grew up in Bakersfield, California in a normal family of 6. We were encouraged to be involved in the things we enjoyed, and we were given a very well rounded exposure to all kinds of hobbies. I have 3 awesome siblings who are my heroes. I really love most active things. I love most sports, ultimate frisbee, racquetball, and football probably being my favorites. I am really into music, the piano is my passion. I would love to write music scores for movies some day. I enjoy dancing more than most things in the world. A regular part of my life is going out to eat with friends, I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the church, I just believe it. It's very hard for the world to believe that in the early 1800's God and Jesus Christ appeared to a young farm-boy named Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet in these days. It makes logical sense to me that God would call 12 apostles today to lead and guide His church to prepare the world for the second coming. There are many reasons why I believe that happened. Christ cautioned us about false prophets, but he gives us the way to know those prophets in the following verse. He said, "Beware of false prophets...Ye shall know them by their fruits" (Matt. 7:15-16) The fruit of Joseph Smith is the work that he accomplished. After recieveing direction from God, he revealed the Book of Mormon which was hidden up for centuries for our day. I have read the Book of Mormon, I love it so much. I asked God if the book is true, and He answered me. The Book of Mormon strengthens my belief in Jesus Christ, it strengthens my belief in the Bible. Joseph Smith established The Church of Jesus Christ. Everything I have ever learned in the church has taught me to do good, to reach higher, to better myself. I first gained my belief in Jesus Christ in this church. As I have done my best to live the teachings of the church I have noticed a very real desire in myself to be a good man, to rise above the pull of worldly things, and to set my priorities on Christ and my family. Another main reason I have a testimony of this church is because I have seen incredible changes in other people who are searching and discover the wonderful truth of this church.

How I live my faith

I would say there are 3 main ways that I try to live my faith. 1.) Love for God. I do my best to live an upright life because I love God, and I know what He expects of me, so I try to be loyal to the commandments and standards He has set. 2.) A desire to love those around me. As I have learned my relationship with Heavenly Father, my desire to serve others has grown because I have a better perspective to who they are. 3.) My inner-self. Taking everyday steps to improve in my weaknesses, constantly thinking about how I can become better in the areas of my life where I am lacking.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

I personally served as a missionary for two years in up-state New York, so I have a lot of conviction behind this subject. The reason why missionaries are out there teaching everyone they meet is because there's a burning testimony in their hearts of the truthfulness of this wonderful message. They believe that God The Father and His son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in a grove of trees and revealed the fullness of the gospel in our day through living prophets and apostles. Because of that truth they are driven to share it with others. It's such a unique thing, nowhere else in the world will you find such willing and dedicated young men and women who sacrifice their lives for such a cause. Show more Show less
