Hi I'm Vanessa Dansie

I love my life and the strength the gospel gives me. Being a member of this church helps me be my best self.

About Me

I plan on receiving my Bachelors Degree from BYU in Medical Laboratory Science, but I am taking an 18 month break to serve a full time mission in the Philippines. I love this church and the light it brings to my life. I love to run, play volleyball, and do service. I know I have a purpose here on this earth and I want to strive to follow in Christ's footsteps daily. Serving others and loving as He does is especially important to me. I aspire to be the best I can be and I cannot wait to be a mom one day!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because I have felt and know it is the true church here on the earth. Yes, I was raised in a LDS home, so i was taught the principles and about the church while growing up, but I also had to find it for myself whether or not it is true. I recall one day I was at a youth conference and we all got up to sing "I Am a Child of God", a song we are taught when we are little, and I just had this overwhelming feeling and knowledge that I am a daughter of God, and he loves me and all of his children more than I will ever know. That was the start and spark of when I definitely knew for myself this church is true. I have had many wonderful experiences that lead to my strong faith. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures, praying and attending church activities. I cannot stress enough how important church activities are. When I become close with people in my ward and attend church and other activities throughout the week I am able to meet so many amazing people and they become like a family. I love to attend the temple nearby and feel the Spirit so strongly there. In my ward, I have been called to visit with and teach two amazing girls. Visiting teaching, has been such a great experience to get to know the girls I teach and share a spiritual message with them every month and make sure they are doing okay. Especially being off at college, this has helped me know I have people to turn to if I need help. I try to also be the best example I can be and to follow in Christs footsteps. I want to make Him and my Heavenly Father so proud.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Vanessa Dansie
No, not all Mormons are required to serve missions, it is a choice. They can decide whether or not they go, but it is strongly encouraged and young men are taught it is a duty. I am about to serve a mission in the Philippines and no one has pressured or forced me to go. I am going because I love this church, and I especially love my Savior and I want to share His word and my faith in Him with everyone I can. It is like I have an amazing recipe for the best chocolate chip cookies, and I don't want to be selfish and keep it to myself, I want the whole world to have it and enjoy the cookies too.
