Hi I'm Steve

I like to rock. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently in graduate school studying electrical engineering. I'll be graduating in April and recently accepted a job in analog integrated circuit design. I was recently married to my beautiful wife. In my spare time I enjoy going to concerts and discovering new music. I have traveled across the country to see my favorite bands live. I get very excited when I discover a new band that I really like! I also really enjoy watching NBA basketball (go Jazz!!!), and running.

Why I am a Mormon

I first read the Book of Mormon on my own because it was assigned reading as part of a college religion course. I became so captivated by it that I soon started reading far beyond what was assigned. By the time I had finished reading it, I was thoroughly convinced that it was the word of God. It is by reading the Book of Mormon that I began to develop faith in Jesus Christ. And it is my faith in Jesus Christ that enables me to overcome all of life's challenges.

How I live my faith

I want nothing more out of life than to be happy, and I have found that I am happiest when I obey God's commandments and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have made a habit of praying and reading scriptures every day, including the Book of Mormon, and it has made a profoundly positive impact in my life. I also attend church each week with my wife. In our congregation, another church member and I have been assigned to visit various families in the congregation each month and share a spiritual message. We try to develop relationships of trust with these families so that they will feel comfortable asking us for help if they ever need anything. Jesus Christ spent his entire life loving and serving others, and we in the Church try to follow His example.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture that was translated (not written) by the prophet Joseph Smith. It was written by prophets who lived anciently on the American continent, just as the Bible was written anciently by prophets who lived in the Middle East. As with all scripture, it's primary purpose is to testify of Jesus Christ and teach His Gospel. Anyone can know that the Book of Mormon is true by reading it and asking God if it is true. God will hear and answer our sincere prayers. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

First and foremost, we believe that God loves all his children. We believe that homosexual behavior is wrong because it goes contrary to the Plan of Happiness that God has lovingly prepared for His children. The family is fundamentally important to that plan, so we are fiercely devoted to defending traditional marriage. Everyone is tempted in life in some form or another (the Bible teaches that even the Savior was tempted), and for some people, this temptation includes an attraction to those of the same sex. While being tempted surely is not a sin, choosing to yield to those temptations is a sin. God still loves us regardless of our sins, but we distance ourselves from Him when we choose to yield to temptation. Fortunately, all of us can overcome our temptations and be forgiven of our sins through Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
