Hi I'm Tanya

Just an ordinary woman - trying to grow up - I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife of 43 years, mother of 2 with 7 grandchildren. After 25 years with a large corporation I retired and joined my husband on our sailing catamaran in the Sea of Cortez to begin our lifelong dream. We love our family and sailing - sometimes it is hard to keep up with both! Our next steps after our boat 'Liahona' is in Florida will be to serve a mission or two somewhere in the world - who cares where!

Why I am a Mormon

My family, when I was growing up, did not go to church, but considered themselves Christian. I had never prayed out loud or shared my testimony and beliefs with others. The first time the Missionaries came to our home I was not open to their message. I did let them come in the second time to begin teaching and my heart was softened. When I listened I was amazed to find that what they said rang true; it was as if they were telling me what I knew already to be true. The rightness and logic of the Gospel bore testimony to me and I was baptized soon after. That was about 40 years ago and I have never regretted my decision - I have only been blessed because of it. I have learned that it does take work and prayer to stay close to the Lord and never take my testimony for granted. I have a sure knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Gospel and have a great deal of peace in my life.

How I live my faith

Working with young people has always been one of my passions. I have been blessed to be given the opportunity to work with the Young Women who are 13 to 18 years old. My testimony of the church grows as I work with the youth and they share their honest and straightforward beliefs with me (and it keeps you younger being around these kids!). Teaching them the Gospel lessons on Sunday helps to strengthen my knowledge and then being with them during the weekly activity gives me the chance to serve.
