Hi I'm Joey

I was born in Germany. I grew up in Oklahoma. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I came from an Army family that started in Germany when my dad met my mom. From Ft. Lewis, Washington to Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Nurnberg, Germany and back, my family of 8 has been all over the place. When we lost my father to a car accident in Idaho after his father's funeral, we came to Oklahoma where he said he wanted to retire. Since then, we've made our way as well as we could. Now, I'm a very passionate trumpet player going to college to study Music Performance. I love instrumental music, fantasy and scifi novels, and time with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but I stay in the Church because of all the different churches I've experienced, I've never seen one with a message so simple, so genuine, and so important to me at the same time. It's a wonderful thing. I have a testimony of the love of our Father in Heaven that He has for each of us. I know that He knows us individually, and that He is always there to help us when we seek Him out. And even sometimes when we're not.

How I live my faith

My days as a Youth in the Church are over and I'm growing up. I live my faith through love and devotion to my family and through sharing it with others who wish to find some truth in their own lives. I honor my father and other deceased veterans through my service to our local Veteran's Center who call upon my skills as a bugler at their quarterly memorial services.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Because like the Book of Mormon, we believe it testifies of Christ as God's Only Begotten Son and Savior of the World. We believe it to be the true Word of God, even as the Book of Mormon is the true Word of God, and we believe both to contain records of His works and ministry. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The name of the Church, being The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, comes from Jesus Christ being the central figure of our worship, and the fact that members of the ancient Christian Church were called Saints. The term of Mormon came from our belief in the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, and any who do are not members of this Church. We believe that true, eternal love exists between one man and one woman. That is the present-day law of the Church, backed by the commandment of our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
