Hi I'm Don

I am a family man and work in Aerospace, I am grateful for a loving God with wisdom greater than our own and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I am middle-aged, have a wonderful wife and family, and have learned that life has a definite purpose and it isn't all about "me"! I enjoy spending time with my family, serving others, and doing hands-on projects. At work, I spend a lot of time on the computer and I enjoy building successful teams to solve software challenges by working to inspire individual success in others. I have served a mission for the LDS church and I have two children currently serving missions. It has been a tremendous blessing in my life as I watch my children come closer to our Heavenly Father, to value others as they begin to see them as Christ sees them, and to become individuals with deep convictions of faith, love and a commitment to serve others. I love learning from the scriptures and one of my favorite verses is from the Old Testament in Jeremiah 17, 7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. I hope and pray that I can always trust the Lord and His wisdom!

Why I am a Mormon

... “whom say ye that I am”, (Matt 16:15) was a pivotal question Christ asked Peter. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because, like Peter, the Spirit of God has borne witness to my soul that Jesus is the Christ! That same Spirit has also witnessed to my soul that we have prophets on the earth today - prophets who are just like Moses, Adam, Abraham, and Noah. I have additionally gained a witness that the Bible and Book of Mormon are the words of God given anciently, to bless my life and the lives of those around me today. I am a Mormon because I have experienced the miraculous power of the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life to heal me from sin, sorrow, bad habits, and disappointment. The fruits of this testimony and the power of these truths have helped me change to become a better man, a more faithful husband, a more loving father, and someone who enjoys who I’m becoming! Someone once asked if I "really believed all that Joseph Smith stuff". In reply, I asked, "Do you believe the Bible?" They answered affirmatively. Then I stated, "like me, then you must believe that a man herding sheep saw a burning bush, that wasn't consumed, from which God talked to him and called him to be a prophet and who eventually parted the waters of the Red Sea for Israel to escape from their captors. Then I commented, "Since I believe events like these really happened anciently, it is not a stretch for me to believe that Christ visited a humble 14 year old boy who was asking for spiritual guidance." It is not hard for me to believe that Joseph was tutored in his youth to become a prophet - just like the prophet Samuel of the Old Testament. It is not hard for me to believe that God is the same today as He was anciently. (See Amos 3:7) Most importantly, and back as I began, I am a Mormon because, like Peter and like Joseph Smith, I asked God for direction and guidance and He sent His Holy Spirit who confirmed these truths deep into my soul.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a better man today than I was yesterday. I’m not always successful, and sometimes it’s down-right hard, but when I persist, the results are always worth the effort. I live my faith by trying to see others as Christ sees them and by trying to treat them as Christ would treat them. As I work through this process of life, the Lord has always been extremely patient with me, and as I learn to be patient with myself, He always helps me get past the road blocks of life and He blesses me with incredible friends and amazing experiences. I live my faith by actively serving others – in and out of the church. I have served the young children of the church, the youth, and the adults in varying degrees of responsibilities and I’ve been able to participate in sharing my beliefs through missionary service within my community. I’ve been able to serve my community through participating in service related projects, organizing and conducting community events, and by serving in public office. I actively visit members of the church in their homes each month to deliver spiritual messages, and on occasion, have the opportunity to speak to church congregations about various gospel topics and to share my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Living my faith is really a day-by-day, minute-by-minute thing for me. And in every moment, Christ’s Grace helps me to overcome, helps heal me, and helps me to find true joy! In a very real sense, Christ is my physician and His Gospel is the prescription for my daily life!
