Hi I'm Paul Michel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I"m a fairly average person. Nothing too remarkable. I work for a major insurance company. I'm a husband, father, and grandfather. I recently converted to The Church of Jesus Christ LDS. I was a Catholic for 54 years. I don't have much for hobbies. I do have a very big interest in Civil War history. I was an "Air Force brat" and traveled around the country quite a bit. Spent about four years in the US Navy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the "mormon" faith about 37 years ago by a friend from high school. We played basketball together on the church team. I had to attend church to be eligible to play. I learned things that would stick with me right up to my conversion. The one thing that was most prevalent, was that Christ had appeared in the America's. My friend tried to tell me about Joseph Smith at that time, I didn't want to hear it. That was a moment of choice. I made the wrong one. My life was pretty much downhill after that, with the exception of meeting my wife of 31 years, and my daughter, who I say represents everything I did right in my life. I had the" you only live once syndrome".I did many things I now regret. I had issues with alcohol and drugs. They impaired all judgement. After finally being sober for now 6 years, I still was looking for answers in my life, I wanted desperately to change. A PBS mini series started earlier on last year. It was called the Mormons, so I chose to watch. It advertised the Book of Mormon during commercials. I decided it was time for me to dust off a copy I had received quite sometime ago. I started reading and could not put it down. This was followed by trips to mormon.org on line, followed by missionary trips to my house. I learned of Joseph Smith's first vision. This touched me emotionally and spiritually.I made my final decsion to convert after a visit to the Sacred Grove. I beleive God Called me to this church on that day.The rest is history. Knowing that God still speaks to us today, and knowing we have a Prophet lead us, Knowing of the true Gospel, has made all the difference that was missing in my life.  I was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ LDS on 9/11/10. I call it my 911 call to God.

How I live my faith

I read the Book of Mormon daily as well as the Bible. I fulfill my calling as a Sunday School President. I follow the commandments to the best of my ability.
