Hi I'm Doug

I am a radiology resident and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud husband and father. My wife and I met in undergrad and have been married for almost 10 years. We have an 8 year old boy and a 2 year old little girl. I work as a radiology resident. When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the beach and playing sports. My favorite sports include basketball and golf. I hope to be able to travel the world with my wife one day.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many reasons why I choose to follow Jesus Christ. As I try to keep the commandments, repent when I make mistakes and serve others I am blessed with a lasting happiness. That is not to say there are not trials. But when the trials and difficulties come, an understanding of God's plan for me and my family gives me hope and a constant peace that cannot be found anywhere else. Ultimately, my testimony of Jesus Christ has come through personal prayer and by testing His gospel and living its precepts. I know that it is true because I have lived it and felt it.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church, I have been given a calling which allows me to serve and teach those around me. As part of my calling I am assigned to visit a Spanish speaking congregation. I learned Spanish on my mission in Puerto Rico and enjoy being able to use my language skills to serve and get to know others. Having a calling or assignment in the Church gives me opportunities to serve others and helps me develop talents that I might not otherwise develop and helps me feel closer to my Savior Jesus Christ.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a personal knowledge of a specific doctrine or truth. This knowledge is obtained from the Holy Ghost. It is different from faith and yet it is based in faith. Faith is a belief and a testimony comes after you have practiced that belief and seen the blessings that come as a result. For example faith is a belief that if I repent I can be forgiven. A testimony of repentance comes by feeling the Spirit confirm to you that have been forgiven after proper repentance. We believe that a personal testimony can and should be obtained of all truth. Modern day prophets and apostles, the Book of Mormon, eternal families, and the atonement of Jesus Christ are just a few examples of truths of which we can obtain "testimonies." Show more Show less
