Hi I'm Leigh Levi
I am 60 years old and have been a Mormon for 35 of 60 years
I have been a member of the Church for 37 of my 61 years and have no regrets at ever having made the decision to be baptized. In my Church life I have served in many callings. I have served in 5 Bishoprics in the callings from Bishopric Councilor, Executive Secretary and Ward Clerk. I have also twice been a Ward Mission Leader, Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher. I Have served in several Sunday School Presidencies, and as a Family History Consultant, and Ward Newsletter Editor and my latest calling is as the Ward Website Supervisor. I, am now on a Disability support Pension, having previously been a Project Engineer, Gunsmith Technician, Marine Engineer, Automation's Technician, Computer Technician and Network Engineer, In 2006 I became the World's most published Amateur Poet in Books and Electronic Media. I was awarded Published Poet Awards, along with Editor's Choice Awards over a number of years. Being a Latter-day Saint by not attending the Annual Poet's Conference in Las Vegas, I made myself ineligible for the $20,000 US Dollar prize. I am glad, because I would much prefer to live my religion, and honour God for the talent's given unto me, than be honoured and feted by Men. Living one's beliefs is more important than following the trends and fashions of the World. They will not bring Men Salvation. In June of last year I was in Hospital unable to move due to two bulging disks in my spine pressing on my sciatic nerve today I am back training on a road racing bike.
Why I am a Mormon
Why am I a Mormon? the answer is quite simple. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true in all its aspects, Doctrine, Principles and teachings. I have had 35 years to prove or disprove these things but I have yet to find one single solitary fault in any of these things. When I joined, I knew without a shadow of doubt that this was the true Church of Jesus Christ on the Earth. No man or woman told me this, but I knew from the confirmation from the Holy Ghost that this was an absolute truth, and when I went down into the waters of Baptism I had now passed the point of no return and could not turn back. I went into those waters of baptism with my eyes wide open and knew the decision I had made was the correct decision, and I was committed to the long journey of learning and experience and my own personal growth and eternal progression. I consider it a great privilege to be a member of this the Lord's true Church of Jesus Christ upon the Earth today and to have held the Priesthood and authority for the last 35 years has been the making of my life and the moulding of my Character. I know with every fibre of my being this Gospel is true and I would not give up my faith for all the riches of the world. The most prized possession is my testimony and the knowledge of the true Nature and Character of God and Jesus Christ.
How I live my faith
I strive daily to live my religion by placing my faith and trust in God and my Saviour, Jesus Christ and by seeking to do all that they would have do. My religion is centred in Jesus Christ 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week and as his Disciple I diligently try to follow his Commandment, teachings, and examples. By having traced both my own Patriarchal and Paternal Lines on both sides of my family back to Adam I have discovered that I am direct bloodlines of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and that I am the 81st Generation Great Grandson of Abraham. I am grateful to know of my heritage and God's promises to Abraham and his seed, and that I too can receive the promised blessings of Abraham, Issac and Jacob predicated upon my own personal worthiness. I am striving to be a better person Today than I was Yesterday, and a better person Tomorrow than I was Today. I rely upon upon God, and Jesus Christ for all my blessings of life, rather than upon the arm of flesh, and upon Men and their wisdom and intellect. It is my belief that we were all placed upon this Earth to help one another to become the person that God, and Christ desire for each of us to become. Serving one another is a great joy and a blessing. As one scripture states that " when you are in the service of your fellowmen, you are only in the service of your God". When I ask myself if I have done any good in the World Today I like the answer to be a positive yes. If not it saddens me and I determine to do much better Tomorrow.
