Hi I'm Rachel

I love life. I live to serve. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I look for the joy in each moment. I think a smile makes everyone beautiful. I love the outdoors. I'm an honor student. I'm a singer. I'm a peacemaker. I'm an observer. I love to give service. I love art. I am a full time missionary. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

This is a wonderful question! I was raised with a belief in God, but I didn't know much about him. In fact, I can only recall going to church a couple of times before the age of ten. My great grandmother passed away and I felt so much emptiness inside. This started me on thinking about the meaning of life and what happens after we die. For a ten year old, I still am quite surprised that I had a lot of deep questions and concerns. It is very difficult to explain to others (it's like explaining how salt tastes to someone who has never tasted it before), but I guess the best way I can describe it is that I felt like there was a void in my life. No matter how fulfilling my other life activities were at that time, I felt an emptiness consume me. Despite having a loving family and friends, I felt like I was never completely "home". I attempted to fill my life with things to fill the void; such things as new hobbies, eating in excess, and finding new friends. But much to my dismay, I still felt like something was missing. I never voiced my concerns to anyone other than my Heavenly Father. Then, one day, two Latter Day Saint (Mormon) Missionaries showed up on our door. I do not recall what they said. However, when they spoke, I felt something within me stir.I felt that void being filled with warmth and peace...and there, while sitting in my living room with my family, I finally felt completely "home". I knew that these two young men were messengers of God and that they were teaching the very thing my soul was so longing: truth.I came to find out God's plan for me. I was filled with indescribable joy as I came to know Heavenly Father and learn about His restored Gospel. I found out that this peace and warmth was the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, telling me that this was from God.I found out that if I was baptized by proper authority, then I could have that spirit with me always.Since my wonderful baptism, I have never again felt that void! I have never been happier!

How I live my faith

I give service through community organizations. I look for unplanned acts of service. I started a program to help children with autism. I have planned and led many activities to better the community and to better the lives of others through my university. I started an "Adopt a Grandparent" program. I've implemented many service and community oriented programs through my university. I treat others as I would like to be treated. I love life and I try to help others love it too!
