Hi I'm Ashley

I am a 29 year old wife, stay-at-home mom to 2 almost 3 kids and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom that has been married for 10 years. I have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. We are also expecting a baby in March 2011. I love to read and spend time with my family. I like to scuba dive, cook & organize things. My husband and I also like to go fly fishing. I am always looking for a good scary movie to watch with my husband. I love playing practical jokes and having a good time with friends/family. Being a Mom is tough, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Raising my kids brings me so much happiness. They are growing up too fast!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church, but it wasn't until I graduated high school that I started to understand the role the gospel played in my life. Being a newlywed was fun and exciting. We weren't always around on Sunday and we didn't always make it to our home ward. We soon moved out of state and it was then that I realized that the Church would always be a constant in my life. My ward became my family. My testimony grew and I started to understand the love my Heavenly Father has for me. Having children only added to that for me. Bringing a new baby into this world has taught me so much about unconditional love - the same type of love our Father in Heaven has for us. This gospel is my foundation. It is the only thing that does not change in my life. When the winds of change start to blow, I know I can depend on the gospel to get me through. I love continually learning new things about this gospel I love sharing the gospel with others and lifting them up with the saving principles I believe are so precious. Helping others feel the love their Heavenly Father has for them is a big part of my life and I hope it continues that way for a long time. The Book of Mormon is true, and we are so blessed to have it in our lives. Joseph Smith was truly inspired while translating that book. The lessons learned from the Book of Mormon are priceless. Having a modern day prophet on the earth is wonderful. Having the chance to hear modern revelations from him is like having direct contact with our Father in Heaven. I also love the principle of receiving personal revelation from our Heavenly Father. I truly believe that He knows what is best for me and my family - and through prayer and reading the scriptures, He will help me guide my family. This church is true. It makes me happy. It brings me peace. It has made me a better person. It has helped me through tough times. It has given me the opportunity to help others through tough times. This gospel is about love. It is about making sure we can get back to our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

My husband and I are the Gospel Doctrine teachers for the adult sunday school class. We've had this calling for about 2 years now. This calling has been so much fun. This year we are studying the Old Testament. It has been a huge testimony-builder to get reacquainted with the Old Testament prophets and their stories. This calling has helped me study the scriptures more in-depth. We have a blast with this calling. I am also a visiting teaching supervisor. I have a great appreciation for the visiting teaching program. I have seen first hand examples of how great this program is.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, a husband and wife can absolutely be together forever - in fact, I am planning on it. That is the beauty of being sealed in the temple for time AND eternity. Heavenly Father wants families to stay together and has made it possible for us to do that. I do believe that families can be together forever. It makes me so happy to know that I will be with my husband and children forever and that I will see those that have already passed on again. There is life after death and we will see our loved ones again. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is what you know to be true. Testimonies usually start out small with basic truths. The more you strive to understand the gospel and the more you read the scriptures - the faster your testimony will grow. Hearing others share their testimonies and in turn sharing yours with others also helps your testimony grow. Whenever I share my testimony I feel at peace in my heart. Its a warm, familiar feeling that tells me this gospel is true. Gaining a testimony has given me all the conviction I need to absolutely know this church is true. I hope that I can pass that conviction along to others, so they can have the same peace I enjoy - in their own lives. Show more Show less
