Hi I'm Megan

I'm a twenty-three-year-old mom of two. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a twenty-three year old mother and wife. My oldest son is almost two, and I am expecting another son any day now. My husband is currently finishing his Master's Degree in Accounting. I graduated from BYU with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a minor in editing in December 2008. I love to play the piano, to read, and to play sports and am trying to learn how to sew.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always loved going to church--even before I had a strong testimony of my own. The feeling I get during church meetings--hearing others bear their testimony, listening to and participating in gospel discussions, and sharing my own testimony--sustain me for the week. I read the Book of Mormon all the way through all by myself for the first time when I was in ninth grade. It had been a hard year for me; my family had just moved away from the city where I was born and raised and I felt very alone. I actually read the Book of Mormon three and a half times through during that school year. When I prayed about the Book of Mormon, I didn't feel like I received a strong answer right away. I was kind of disappointed; I had read the Book of Mormon, where was my powerful feeling telling me it was true? After several weeks of petitioning the Lord, though, I finally realized that I already knew it was true. The spirit had testified to me throughout my life of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of the gospel. As I realized that, I felt the sweetness of the spirit and knew I had received my answer.

How I live my faith

One of the main ways I try to live my faith is by being an example to and teaching my son. He is not quite two, and every time he sees a picture of Jesus he says, "Jesus! John baptize Jesus!" It makes me happy to know that he is already learning about the Savior. In the church, I work my hardest to fulfill whatever calling I have. Right now, I am assigned to play the piano. This may seem a menial task, but I try to uplift others and invite the spirit through my music.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mormons don't worship Joseph Smith--we worship Jesus Christ and God the Father. That is why we are called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (not the church of Joseph). We do love Joseph Smith; he was the first prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But we do not worship him. Show more Show less
