Hi I'm Wayne
I live in southern Minnesota. I'm a grandfather and I'm a Mormon.
I am a someone who enjoys the out of doors and am very active, despite being almost 60 years old. I enjoy bicycling, kyaking, camping and regular exercise at our local YMCA. I am a grandfather of 2 wonderful grandsons and 3 children who are all grown up.
Why I am a Mormon
I love being a member of a church that lives it's religion. Mormons may seem a little different at first glance because we don't smoke or drink alcohol or we always seem to be going to church alot, but in reality we are Christians who love the Lord Jesus Christ and live our religion 7 days a week and not just on Sunday. We don't profess to be better than anyone else, we just follow the teachings of the Savior who said if you love me, keep my commandments. (By the way Mormon isn't realy the name of our church. It's the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mormon is a name that comes from our belief in the Book of Mormon, another scripture we believe in addition to the Bible.)
How I live my faith
I am currently the bishop of our congregation. We do not have any paid ministers in our faith. I have a regular paying job as an optometrist in addition to serving the Lord as a bishop. It is demanding to do both as both are full time jobs, but it is very gratifying to see peoples lives change as they embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ and feel the Lord directing their lives through the Holy Spirit.
