Hi I'm Betsy

I love to create. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Betsy. I have a passion for art and humanities. I'm currently adjusting to my new life as a mother. My husband is a medical resident, which means finding time together as a family can be a challenge. When we are together, we love going outdoors, visiting museums, and spending time with friends. Often we are happy to just have a quiet evening at home reading or playing together. Whenever I have a chance, I am making something. I love sewing, pottery, painting, drawing, designing, and writing. Every day I go from one project to another in order to surround myself with beauty. I feel like I still have a lot to learn, but it is challenging and exciting. There is something new to explore every day.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is very important to me. I've seen it carry me through every stage of my life, from childhood to adulthood. With it I have security and consistency. I have never felt restricted to do the things I want to do. If anything, my creativity has flourished as a result of knowing that God believes in me, watches over me, and wants me to participate in the joys of creation. I love knowing that all my prayers can be answered, and that God has a plan for me. When I read the Book of Mormon with a desire to find truth, I am always astounded at how God is able to speak to me in ways that man cannot. I feel joy knowing that I am a literal daughter of God. With this divine heritage comes the great responsibility to remain pure, even when the world tells me otherwise. I believe that there there are miracles happening every day, even great ones, and that God is in control. I believe that there are senses more powerful than sight. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me, that he knows me, and that He is my older brother looking out for me. With this knowledge I have hope. Were it not for my Heavenly Father, my worries and fears would certainly get the best of me. If I am strong, it is because I have faith. I know this gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I believe the best way to show my faith is by actively serving people around me. Being a member of this church has given me various opportunities to serve. I've worked with single adult women in college, taught young children in Sunday school, and even been a Cub Scout leader for 8-12 year old boys! I served an 18 month mission in Ukraine which was one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences of my life. I have worked with missionaries even after my mission and am always looking for missionary opportunities in my community. Right now I am a leader of the Young Women's organization in my congregation and I absolutely love it. I take very seriously the challenges and struggles that our youth face today, and I strive to be aware of the important decisions that they are making that will influence the rest of their lives.
