Hi I'm Marcus

I'm in my third year of law school. I'm married, have a daughter, and one more baby girl coming. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with a daughter and have one more coming. I am finishing my last year of law school and will be practicing corporate law on the East Coast next year. I grew up moving a lot. I am from the US, but I have lived in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Japan. ESPN is my guilty pleasure. I played football at a junior college and love all sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I was 18 I read the Book of Mormon, prayed about it, and felt a confirmation that it is true. Though I was a member of the Mormon church before that time, I am still a Mormon today because of that experience at that crossroads of my life. Everything else I believe stems from that confirmation. My belief has grown through many experiences. Most importantly, when I have not felt good about how things have been going in my life, I have tried harder to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and it has helped significantly. At many pivotal moments, I have prayed to God, in Jesus's name, asking for forgiveness for my mistakes and guidance for my future. I've felt it. My motivating factor now is that I believe that if I do my best to live the gospel of Jesus Christ, I can be with my wife and my daughters forever.

How I live my faith

I attend church weekly with my family. It makes me so happy to see how much my daughter loves to go each week and see and play with her friends there. (It helps for times when I am not as motivated to go!) We pray daily as a family, and it draws us closer. We also have one night a week, on Mondays, where we have a "Family Night." We sing a church song that my daughter knows, pray, share a simple thought about Christ's teachings, play a game, and have a treat. It's always a good time.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Marcus
I believe that we can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying to Him. If we sincerely pray, regardless of who we are or what we are doing in life, I believe that Heavenly Father hears those prayers and offers guidance. When we earnestly try to follow that guidance, we come to know our Father in Heaven better. I know He is there, because I've prayed to Him and felt his love and guidance. Show more Show less
