Hi I'm Jeremy

I'm a Marine Veteran. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan and I' m a Mormon.

About Me

I served 5 years in the Marines. One tour in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. The military was a hard life but in many ways shaped me into the person I am today. I have many painful memories from the military. Some things I wasn't sure that God would be able to forgive me for. I'm grateful for the healing power of repentance and the Atonement of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I love my family and I'm grateful to have them in my life. My family is the greatest gift God has given me. They have helped me in the healing process of my past. Because of them I have learned to forgive myself. I love camping, hiking, Bar-B-Q's and spending time with family and friends. My wife and I have been married for seven years. We have three amazing children. These are the happiest years of my life. I've always dreamed of having a family of my own. God is great and He truly does hear and answer's our prayers.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in Pray. I have always been a Christian. But for most of my life I have been unable to find a way out of the sins that have trapped me since my childhood. I used to pray with all my heart "God please help me change my ways" Satan has many awful ways of taking our weakness and using it against us. After seeing the change the Church had made in my brothers life I decided I would find out more about the Mormons on my own instead of relying on what I had been told. I learned about the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I read the Book of Mormon. I made wonderful friends and then I started changing my life in a way that I thought could never happen. God answers prayers and He truly does love us. He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die and live again so that all His children my return and live with Him.

How I live my faith

I love being a member missioniary. After being in the church for about a year I was 26 and I was faced with a difficult choose. The question was "Do I go on a two year mission to serve the Lord else where or do I search for a eternal compainion and start a family of my own." Everyone gets their own anwser and my not be the same anwser as mine. The anwser I got was "Find a wife and start your family Jeremy. You can serve as a missioniary where you live." I'm greatful for the direction God gave me. I've now been married to my wonderful wife for a little more than 7 years and we have 3 wonderful children. I love spending time with my wife and children. The Gospel is centered around families. Keeping a strong relationship with my wife is one the most important things in my life. Because having a stronger relationship with my wife helps me have a stronger relationship with God. I serve in my Ward as the Ward Mission Leader now, which means I help cordnate the church missioniary efforts in my area. I also enjoy going out with missioniaries as often as I can. It's a great blessing to feel of their spirit, share the Gospel, and doing something good for someone in need.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Jeremy
I believe it's because many people just don't understand what our church really is. Our church is called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Which means that we believe in Jesus Christ. I used to call this church a cult but after I prayed and read the Book of Mormon. I gained a powerful testimony from the Holy Ghost that it was truly anouther testiment of Jesus Christ. It is as Elder Holland said “No wicked man could write such a book as this and no good man would write it, unless it were true and he were commanded of God to do so.” This very thought came to my mind as I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. When I use to call this church a cult. I admit that I judged this church because of what I had heard and not on what I did know. To truely find the anwsers we seek we must do as the Apostle James dirrects "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Jeremy
Before Jesus was Crusified on the cross he established his church and ordained 12 Apostles to minister his gospel and to be special witnesses of him. Jesus gave the 12 Apostles keys to the kingdom of heaven and the ministering of Angles. They were able to heal the sick and aflected and cast out demons. But after many had betrayed the church and the Apostles had been killed these keys to Jesus Christ church had been lost. Their were some who still had faith in the Gospel who tried to restablish his church but the priesthood had been taken away from the earth and none had the authority. So the whole truth of the Gospel had been lost. Many people used the peices that they had to try to live rightous lives. Some were guided by the Holy Ghost to prepare the world for the resteration of the Gospel. There was a great need for the resturation of the Gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth. After the church had been restored to the earth part of that resturation was establishing the same church that Jesus Christ had established. Under the direction of Jesus Christ his church was restored and 12 more apostles were ordained to be spiecal witnesses that He lives and that this is His Gospel restored to the earth.  Show more Show less
