Hi I'm Amy

I'm an Air Force brat, Veteran, wife and Mother. I work with teens and women diagnosed with Eating Disorders. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of two awesome kids. When they were young I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling. I work part time as a mental health therapist with a specialty in Eating Disorders, depression and anxiety. I enjoy reading young adult fiction and any other good books. In my free time I love to exercise by running or kickboxing; I even get a couple triathlons in there. Every Saturday I play soccer in a co-ed league that reminds my body that I am not 16 anymore. I love to camp, hike and watch Jane Austin movies.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon church when I was little so I was raised in a Mormon home. In my early youth my parents fell away from the gospel and so did I. As I got older and went to college I realized that I missed being part of a religion. I wanted to have more direction in my life and needed to know if what I grew up learning was what I still believed. After some events that the Lord had a direct hand in, I was led back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I studied and prayed to know if it was true and if I should align my life with the teachings and commandments of the Bible and Book of Mormon. After receiving a witness that it was true I changed my lifestyle and I have never looked back. Being a follower of Christ brings me peace and joy in times of trial and calm. In all things I know that the Holy Ghost can be my guide and comforter. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a living prophet and apostles that continue to guide us in a turbulent and changing world. My heart knows that we will never be led astray and the Savior will give me personal revelation for myself and my family. Jesus lives and He loves me and I know that as I show my love to Him by following the commandments my life will be blessed with the trials and triumphs that I need to become the person He knows I can be.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the center of my life. It reaches everything I engage in and it shapes the way I conduct myself. In church I am the Director of Girls Camp for ages 12-18. I plan, organize and carry out a week of summer camp each year where our focus is on bringing the youth closer to Christ, building their individual worth, and increasing their testimony of the gospel. In addition I organize the women's visiting teaching for our congregation. This is where I assign each sister a list of other women to visit monthly and to be a watch care over them. We are the Lords hands here on Earth and I love being a part of bringing sisters together to care for and help one another.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is committing to living a life that reflects what the Savior taught. We are never going to be perfect but seeing others trying to do their best makes me want to do my best. My joy comes from teaching my children about the Savior and how He can help them through anything. Knowing that we are an eternal family also helps me keep my eye on the big picture when life gets rough. Show more Show less
