Hi I'm Jake

I'm a missionary, I'm a singer, I'm happy, I'm a brother, I'm a son, I'm learning, and I'm proud to be a Mormon!

About Me

I come from a family of 8... Mommy, Daddy, two older brothers, two older sisters, and a little sister as well! I love them very much! I also have 5 nieces and 5 nephews whom i adore, and more on the way! I graduated from High School in 2010. I invented chicumber, which is half chicken, half cucumber... Mostly because I wanted a word all to myself, and I thought those two combined would be splendid. I love to sing, especially the beautiful, sacred hymns of the church! I am serving a mission currently in the Minnesota, Minneapolis Mission, MMM! Woo! I love sharing this gospel which I know, without a shadow of a doubt, is true. I love my family, my friends, music, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon house, but that is not why I'm a Mormon. I can't ride on the coat tails of my parents into heaven, but I must gain a knowledge for myself, and then ACT on what I know. God is our loving Heavenly Father, and he desires our happiness, and wants us to return to live with Him. He communes with us through prayer. We pray, he answers through the Holy Ghost; feelings in our hearts and thoughts in our minds. Sometimes through other people, sometimes through a song, whatever the means, we have the ability to recognize answers from our Heavenly Father. I learned for myself that this church is true just as everyone must. I have prayed, and I KNOW that the things I have asked my Father in Heaven are true. I cannot deny the feelings i recieve. Though hard to describe, my best attempt would be to liken my heart to the sun. Radiating warmth and light throughout my whole being, but without the pain that I'm sure would be accompanied by my heart literally becoming the sun. This feeling occurs often as I continue seeking truth from Him who knows. I know He will never neglect His children. I am a Mormon, because I love my Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made for me, and all of us. The integral part of our Father's plan for us, to cast our burdens upon that great Mediator for mankind. I am a Mormon, because I have seen the blessings this gospel has given my family and myself, and can't help but try my best to return the favor and allow others these same blessings. I am a Mormon, because I know that without a doubt that the full gospel of Jesus Christ is restored to the earth with living prophets to guide us in this day and age. I am a Mormon because my questions are answered and will continue to be answered. I need not rely on another to tell me what I believe, but I can find out for myself. I KNOW where I came from before this life. I KNOW why I am here, and what my purpose is. I KNOW where I am going when I die, and I am so very grateful! I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Currently I am devoting all of my time to helping spread the message of the restored gospel to as many people as I possibly can. I am serving a 2 year mission for the Church and love every second of it! I have grown to love the people I am meeting daily in Minnesota! Aside from that, I live my faith as much as I can by example. I am not perfect. Far from it. But I am striving my best to follow THE perfect example, my Savior Jesus Christ. As I attempt to love God and my neighbor, I find myself growing in happiness and joy even in the lowest parts of my life. By following the principles taught by Christ through prophets, past and present, I have found that, by living my faith through helping others, I am helped twofold in the process.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They will answer any questions you have for them, and they will explain simply what we believe and why we believe it. Nothing will be forced on you. It is informational and an invitation to act on the message they share. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Because it is the word of God. The Bible is full of words of the Prophets who speak as God's mouthpiece. We believe the word of God. That is what the Book of Mormon is as well. Words of the Prophets. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Just look around you. Everything on this Earth points to a supreme creator. The plants, the mountains, the animals, the rivers, the lakes, the ocean, the weather. EVERYTHING points towards God. The Holy Ghost also testifies there is a God. Just pray, and if you do so sincerely, i promise you will receive an answer. Ask if God loves you, and he WILL tell you. You will feel it. What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the ability of man to act in God's name for the salvation of his children. Power given to man by the laying on of hands with proper authority, then allowing the holder of the priesthood to assist God in his work and his glory, which is to allow us to return to live with our Father in Heaven again! It is never, and can never be used for self gratification. Show more Show less
