Hi I'm Hyrum

I'm a computer geek, a musician, I have a beautiful family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a User Experience web designer. I'm basically try to make websites, apps, and software more enjoyable and easier to use. I studied Computer Science in college. I am a father of three children and have been married to the love of my life for eight years. I love to sing, play the piano and compose music. I can make crickets noises :)

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the principles taught in the church help me be happy and teach me how to be a good father, brother, son, husband, and neighbor. I want my family to last for ever and I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can make that possible. Life can be pretty scary and hard at times. With the scriptures, a living prophet, and the chance to speak directly with a loving Heavenly Father I know I can find peace and safety in my life no matter what challenges I'm up against. I asked God in prayer if the Book of Mormon was real and if the principles taught in this church were right and God spoke to me. When he spoke to me I didn't hear his voice with my ears but I was overcome with love and peace and knew in my heart what I needed to do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by just being me. That's the great part about being Mormon. Having the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me do all the normal thing in life better. The gospel helps me improve in all aspects of life and makes me a better employee, student, engineer, leader, father, husband, musician, and comedian. Okay, I might need more than a miracle to be a successful comedian. The things I learn from the gospel affect every aspect of my life and help me to be happier. For the time being I've been asked to do service in the church as a Sunday teacher in the Elder's Quorum class. I enjoy teaching because it helps me learn the gospel of Jesus Christ better as I prepare my lessons and I get to talk about how the gospel of Jesus Christ helps me be happy. I also get the chance to be a home teacher. Once a month I get the opportunity to make sure some families that live near me are doing okay and I share a short message with them from the living prophet. It's very enjoyable getting know other families and visiting with them in their homes. I am not ashamed to tell people what I believe and I live the standards I know make me happy. I respect the beliefs of others and always try to share the things that make me a better person.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Hyrum
I think that the church has grown because Jesus Christ himself is at the head of it. There are a few things specifically that allow the church to be successful. 1. We Can Know For Ourselves We don't have to take someone's word on whether the church teaches truth. Each member is encouraged to read the Book of Mormon and ask God. Each person can receive an answer directly from God on the subject as they pray to him. The church has continued to grow as more and more people have taken this challenge and received answers to their prayers. 2. Families Once we know for ourselves the truth of the things we can then help our families. The LDS church emphasizes teaching gospel truth to children so they can be prepared to face the world as they grow up. Children are being confronted with hard decisions at younger and younger ages. The church grows not just one person at a time but often family by family. 3. Socialization God knows that there is a time to be serious and a time to enjoy each others company and have fun. The church encourages having fun as families, getting to know neighbors, and participating in uplifting events and activities on a regular basis. People like that and find strength in being part of a community. Show more Show less
